After Dec 22 update the game silently quits upon startup

The game has been running fine for me, until an update in the afternoon of Dec 22. Now the game starts to load like normal, launcher says initializing game, the screen goes black, there is a brief flash of the little spinning circle and the word 'connecting' but then the game just exits (never makes it to the lobby with characters). It does not put up any kind of error message or any message at all, it just goes back to the launcher and the 'close game' button reverts to 'launch game'.

Reviewing the launcher logs, they do not indicate any trouble, at the end they just show the game launching and then that the launcher detected that the game session ended. I cannot find any logs for the game session itself. I have tried repairing, to no avail, uninstalling and reinstalling the game and then doing a full uninstall including an uninstall of the launcher, and then reinstalling, still the same behavior.

note re setup-- the C drive on my computer has ~60GB of space open, the launcher and game are installed on another drive (my F:, an SSD with over a TB free) After the problem first started happening last night, I saw that the the C drive had somehow run out of space and the launcher log had complained about not having space for a download. I deleted about 15 GB from the C drive and restarted, then it was back to having nearly 70 GB free, and the launcher logs no longer show any problem about space being free for downloads. It's still odd that it seems a launcher update process seems to have somehow filled up 60GB of space on the C drive when the game was installed on the F drive, but it's not repeating that part of the behavior anymore.

There had been no other changes to the computer at all when this trouble appeared, and the only changes since then have been from me clearing more space on C: (which really shouldn't be needed anyways but I was just trying to do what I could)

On a friends computer my account loads up fine and I can get into my characters, so there is no problem with the character state..

Anyone have new ideas for me to try?

I'm having a similar issue. Was playing fine last night, then updated today and every time I launch the game it gets past launching EAC and pops up the black screen and the Intel cpu warning, which always popped up, and when I move on from that warning the game just closes seemingly without any indication in the logs other than the client was exited. No error crash popup or anything, just black screen then closed.

I'm also having this issue. Everything was fine yesterday, but, as of this morning, launching leads to a black screen and then crash back to launcher.

Have attempted to repair, reinstall, and restart with zero improvements. Checked event viewer to see if there was some fatal error that was caught, but nothing.

closing the launcher as game boots up resolves the crash that happens on the black screen but then faced with error code 31

I just bought the alpha II. Downloaded, made character, but from there on when i click Play it brings up the loading screen then shuts down with no errors or crash report popping up. I've tried wi-fi, ethernet, vpn, balanced power, high power, firewall, anti virus, computer restart, repair, reinstall, high/med/low graphics, changing the resolution, windowed/ fullscreen, starting in admin mode. updating OS, updating graphics card, updated directx, nothing seems to be working. Oddly the switch from 5g ethernet to wifi made file operations move quicker.

At one point after doing low graphics on everything at first nothing worked, but restarted launcher and reverified with the pw code, and when the character select loaded, it was REALLY bright. This time it loaded and there were people everywhere, but then i clicked outside the screen to talk in discord and the game window went to a vertical side monitor and I was unable to move it back to my main screen so i had to quit. Then when i reloaded it started with the crashing again, but this time it crashed right after clicking Launch Game on the launcher with no errors or crash reports, eventually I could load to the character/server choice but after clicking play it gets to the loading screen and the game window disappears and i'm back at launcher.

i7-13700, 32GB RAM, GTX 4070TI, SSD, 5G ethernet wired. With 307 GB freespace on SSD

Just purchased. Game boots then crashes on black screen. i7 4080s 64gb ram. Tried installing on different drives and same issue.

Users with similar issues were able to fix this by downloading the c++ redistributable from Microsoft (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#latest-microsoft-visual-c-redistributable-version). You might have to hit "repair" again in the launcher after downloading the file.

Suspect-

I have the same issue, played the game fine without any issues, but now hit launch starts to load game with black screen then closes itself. I have installed windows x86, reinstalled all my drivers, fresh game install, changed computer monitors for different resolution even went as far as changing out my 4070 GPU to my old GPU nothing works, but i can play straight away on my cheap laptop

Thanks a lot after i repair actual version of c++ via mircosoftlink and restart Pc , it works fine.

do we have a solution for this yet? I'm very upset i just spent all this money and can't play the game. I've tried basically everything on every forum regarding this issue and nothing seems to be working. I was playing just fine earlier in the day yesterday and then at night after logging out this issue started happening.
