[feedback] Seasons
Currently in game its autumn (fall) and while the trees look good and give a nice vibe. The snow on the ground makes it feel more like winter then anything.
i even asked my wife who doesnt play games her opinion on what season it was and she said "winter, theres snow on the ground"
now i understand that its common in places to have snow fall in autumn but to go from "sunny" to 2 seasons on the run with snow feels miserable.
A suggestion would be to maybe have the bright vibrant autumn for 3/4 of the season and then for the last 1/4 of the season to migrate to a colder snowy feel as winter approaches.
love how the game looks just my 2 cents on this

This is what i mean tho i get places get snow, in the uk we really dont until January. but doesn't autumn in Colorado start in September. what's it like as its coming off the back of the summer, it doesn't go straight to snow you get that period where its all oranges and browns then it transitions however slowly or dramatically into the cold side where there's snow late sept early October
To us most seasons would look more or less like this:
Summer = Hot season. Lots of sun. Occasional rain
Fall = Rain all the way. If it's not raining then it's getting ready to rain
Winter = Snow (if you're lucky. Obligatory climate change mention)
Spring = End of snow, some rain, mostly sunny but without the warmth associated with the summer.
This also allows for a wide range of colours in the biomes. Now, do I think the current settings fit the biome we're playing in? Ehhhh, maybe? I feel like the left side of our map has a lot more mountains and trees associated with colder areas while the right def feels like it should follow the seasons as described above. Honestly, it's hard to say which option fits best. I -do- worry that if we're not getting a 'European' set of seasons here that we'll never get it at all. As far as I'm aware there's no biome on the roadmap that's only a few degrees warmer.
The riverlands is a temperate forest at sea level right next to the tropics. Having trees with no leaves and permanent snow on the ground is not fall weather, it's winter weather at best, if it should even ever have a permanent snow cover at all.
I would love to see fall have some spotty snow patches, and maybe variants of the trees that have most of their leaves but also be discolored.
Or maybe just some kind of seasonal indicator so I can tell how far into the season we actually are? 5 days until winter, but like... how long is each season? does 5 days left mean fall just began, or are we at the tail end of fall and it *should* start looking more like winter now?
I forget which game it was I played, but the time indicator rotated to show the sun/moon so you had a very visual indication for how long you'd really progressed through the night. Would be cool if there were similar day/night and season indicators instead of a message of X amount of time until the next phase.
Since there's no weather shifting during the day (ie, snow overnight that melts by midday), lets go with the daytime weather.
Spring: new green grass in some places, more wetlands from melting snow and ice, frequent rain
Summer: green grass, green trees, blue sunny skies, occasional rain
Fall: multicolored trees, leaf-coverage of the ground, standing grain, ripe crops, occasional cloud cover, rare rain
Winter: snow and ice, bare trees (no leaves, except evergreen pine trees), frequent cloud cover, occasional blizzards
I think these hallmarks of the seasons would be most enjoyable aesthetically to the widest audience.
I understand that currently it's set up so that you have the appearance of Winter and like the slider button, we slowly move to Winter and when Winter starts we actually get 100% of the appearance of Winter and then we start slowly progressing to Spring. However I think this is bad approach, although I appreciate your attempt at realism.
When we finally reach Season, we should feel it for some days. I will give some idea:
Lets say one Season (Summer) has 14 days. Leave us for 12 days in best Summer appierence and rest 2 days use on transgression. 1 Before, 1 After. = In total its gonna be 2 days, because of 1 Day Before from next Season.
Spring - 1 Days Transggresion 12 Days the full appearance of spring 1 Days Transggresion
Summer - 1 Days Transggresion 12 Days the full appearance of summer 1 Days Transggresion
Fall - 1 Days Transggresion 12 Days the full appearance of fall 1 Days Transggresion
Winter- 1 Days Transggresion 12 Days the full appearance of winter 1 Days Transggresion
Even tho, we need bit more love for Fall, this season feels the most unfinished. While I understand that we are in Alpha 2, I have to mention this in case perhaps this is the final version. I hope not.
Last note: Please make a Winter less White. I dont know how to do it, but after few hours my eyes hurts because all of the White color around.
