    I am apart of the discord channel, I think the confusion was someone trolled me with saying down for 17 hours :) This will now be a theme.

    It's simply the reality of current times. Majority of people are in discord and writing a post there is way easier and faster (which means most current info for people) than formatting a forum/reddit post or tweeting about it (another place that people hate btw).

    I'm sure it is.

    However, relying on a third party business for your own businesses communication is just a bad call.

    By all means use third party businesses, but prioritize your own communication channels first.

    As a perfect demonstration of this, Discord CEO has recently stepped down, to be replaced by Humam Sakhnini, ex-Vice Chairman from Activision-Blizzard. Discord doesn't actually make a profit, how long do you think it will be before someone with a Blizzard mindset makes changes at Discord in order to try and turn a profit? What sort of impact do you think those changes will have on the platform? How dispersed will Ashes community become without Discord?

    It's just a bad business decision to make it the primary communications platform. It's what I expect a YouTuber or other social media influencer to do, not a game developer with a hundred plus employees.

    It's the lazy way out that is guaranteed to eventually backfire - just like trying to convince players they are each other's content is the lazy way out that is sure to eventually backfire.
