[Feedback] - Corruption System

WarrensWarrens Member, Alpha Two
Hello everyone!

Hope everyone is having a good time in A2-2 (Alpha 2, Phase 2). I figured that I bring up some feedback about the corruption system. I know there is already a lot of topics about it but figured I give my two cents.

I first want to say that I don't want this system to go away. It's a nice system to help keep PvP in check and to help keep PvPer from killing low level people. However, I do believe that it needs to be worked on, in tango with PvP in general.

First thing I was to point out is that it is VERY easy to get corrupted while PvPing. All it takes is someone to go unflagged, wait a minute and a half, and then they are no longer flagged and if they were already in a PvP match, then whoever they were fighting is now corrupted. My guild and I have done several PvP event but there have been times we would go an attack someone that is flagged, they run and unflag and by the time we catch up to them, their flag is gone and now whoever killed them, is now corrupted. And I know some are going to say just to stop attacking but when you are doing weapon attacked and skill attacks, you don't know what will happen and you can crit to kill someone. There should be a system in place that if you are in PvP combat, you cannot unflag until you are out of PvP combat or combat in general. This way, those that are actually fighting in PvP, does not get corrupted because someone is scared or trolling.

The second thing I want to point out is the teleporting to random places when you do die while corrupted. Myself, I have not been teleported, but I have had guild members and alliance members get teleport and they get teleport in front of level 25 players or groups of players that they then get killed there. Then they get teleported away again and lost even more gear (more to come on that). There needs to be a way that the system detects where players are and send the corrupted person NOT to players so they can have a chance to run and clear their corruption.

The third thing is about gear dropping while corrupt. I do believe that there needs to be some type of punishment when it comes to being corrupted. But having a random chance of X amount of gear dropping pending on your corruption level, I don't think is good. I think it should be that based on your corruption level, you drop the amount of gear on that level. So, level one corruption, you drop one item and ONLY one item. If you get killed again, you shouldn't drop anymore gear UNLESS you go from level 1 to level 2 corruption. So, if you are level one, die, drop gear but then keep killing and go to level 2 corruption, you now reset your drops to two items. This way, you can have a chance to decrease your corruption.

These are just SOME things I feel that could use some changes.

Do their nameplates not start blinking purple? Cause that's the indicator that they're about to lose flag and you should be careful about your attacks.

I thought that added that already. And if you didn't see that during your fights - do report it.

I agree with this system once we get BHs implemented. Though, if the "normal people see PKers on their map" is still a thing, then I guess it'd be fine to add this now. Not sure how easy this is to implement though.

I think this can just be addressed through corruption removal balancing. Lvl1 corruption should be removed on one death, so you'd only lose 1 item (ideally with a chance not to lose it). At lvl2 - 2 deaths. At lvl3 - 4-5. Lvl4 - 7-8. Lvl5 - 10++.

That's part of the risk of going Corrupted in the first place. Can't do the time, don't do the crime!

    Same answer as above!

Their name does start flashing purple but once it stops, they go back into PvE mode. Was not aware that it was meant to keep them in PvP. Next time it happens, I'll make sure to report it.

No, the blinking is meant to tell YOU that YOU should stop attacking. The system is protecting those who no longer want to fight. It's especially useful for cases of flag-bait, where a group of people send one of their members to get a target flagged, but then attempt to attack them all at once. The target would be able to run away by stopping their attacks and dropping the flag shortly.
