Launcher is impossibly slow when hit with an update

Anytime the launcher is trying to download / install the game or an update, it is *VERY* slow compared to others. Everyone else seem to take 5 minutes or less while I take hours. I tried contacting support and gave them my logs, and instead of reading what I said and taking a look at the logs, they hit me with a copy pasta that didn't address my ticket at all.

The most glaring thing I saw in my logs was that the launcher gets stuck in a loop stating the following:

If someone from the team could at least tell me this was seen and will be addressed, I would greatly appreciate this. I kind of expected better from Intrepids support.

I'm having the same issue. Even when it is "installed," the "file operations" takes forever and won't complete; the installer/launcher just crashes before it can complete.

Been having this issue as well since day 1 of alpha2 launch. If I decide to update the game files, my computer is effectively worthless for 2-3 hours as it crawls through the install. I'm currently on hour 2 of updating for phase2 launch and file operations is only at 41%.

as I type this, I went through the options of patching and set the limit to 6 concurrent processes, which significantly sped up the file operations, but still is causing my computer to have issues with stuttering. It was set at 3, but setting it to 6 has increased the speed at least.

Hi all!

I guess this has not yet been resolved and i want to push awareness again, as I experience the exact same issue. I went too patch todays mini-patch and it took over 20 minutes to complete file operations.
Task manager is not showing much other than drive working through files (using an M.2, should be fast enough), and my PC keeps stuttering and is pretty much completely useless for the time of the update.

it's HORRIBLY annoying and has disincentive effects on any sort of testing from my side ...

I think I have this issue. I uninstalled the whole game because it was not patching. It is now not installing - download is fine, but File Operations is very slow. I seem to get a few percent when the launcher starts, but then it effectively stalls

i had the similar issue but also my disk usage was 100% there was 5 xDelta3 in processes. i was initially installing on my main drive. after a few tries of restarting my pc and restarting launcher i deleted everything and installed on my 2nd drive. everything seems to be working fine now it is currently installing as i write this. also no xDelta3 in processes.

While they're digging under the hood maybe they can find out why discord gets disconnected while a patch is going on is it just sucking all the bandwidth up or is something else going on?

Issue still remains. 1hr+ to update (and comp totally locked during that time) but game runs fine. Everything is on a ssd. All other games and apps work and update fine. I think I spent more time updating than playing lol. I have to plan my play session hours in advance and hope I don't need the computer before then.

Same issue, and my group mate too. Running on a new and solid machine. Have reinstalled. Seems crazy having to buy a secondary drive just to accomodate this launcher

I've always had this issue.
One of the biggest reasons I stopped playing the alpha because by the time game patches, I have no time to play. I am really starting to regret buying this. Too bad the refund time lapsed.

I've reinstalled the game on another SSD I have in my system wich is not the Windows partition. And now it works mutch better. It seems this has solved the problem for me.

Oh that's unfortunate. Luckily soon the game will be up 24/7 and eventually release and you can play whenever you want! Thanks for being here buddy!

issue still exists....game and launcher are on same SSD (nvme m2). I have fiber 1g internet. downloads fast. then locks up my computer for another 2-3 hours. This is 90% why I do not play the alpha. it takes forever to update and then there is likely a server downtime in the middle of the day too. i bet they will get lots more testers if they just fix the updater.

Same here. Unbelievalble this issue isn't fixed yet all this time.
Edit: Installing on a separate SSD did **not** solve the issue for me.

Want to let people know I self solved the ingame screen freezing bug.. at least for me. I updated to the latest Nvidia drivers 581.29 and I installed process lasso (the pro paid for version that I own) and used that to stabilize how AOC used system resources and my constant screen freezes and stutter stopped.

This also seems to solve the game patcher making my computer unusable while updating. Your results may vary but this fix worked wonders for me. Hope this helps you too.

One caveat to using process lasso. This program will interfere with windows update. This program if running while windows updates will make the update take 3-5X longer to process and complete. So disable this program while updating your windows software.
