What Quality Does Intrepid Want Regards To Water/Effects?

Just curious how detailed or "realism" is going into water? I remember Steven mentioning something about puddles during the last monthly video, and that's a great addition and all but what about the shores and further out into the waters. White caps on waves? Ripples from fishing or anything else. Different sizes of waves that will/could push ships/boats (drifting). Again, this just out of curiosity and possibly foolishly optimistic.

also i hope there is a rework over the sand on the tropics, its looking quite depressing... can we get some more smooth and whitish sand.

I am in the guildless Guild so to say, lol. But i won't give up. I will find my fitting Guild "one Day".
I think i get your point. However ... ...
Can the Dev's not make this all optional ? How good or bad or lush or barren a Game will look ? So that every single Player can adjust the Setting just for themselves ?

The Weather Presentations 2 Years ago and above that were the absolute Bomb.

I watched the biome video from two years ago. It looked good then too. If there is a better example specifically let me know to compare them.
As for current water. it does show physics with well.. currents lol from which the naval video presents from the engine.
I will say the wake from the boats looks relatively under-whelming in comparison though. Looks like the spray can feature in Paint for windows lol
I hate to say it, but you are starting to sound like me.
This was the exact answer I was about to give.
my brain just fried...
How exactly can it be a drain on dev time if it was done and programmed already Years ago ?
Do You perhaps mean that the Visuals shown a few Years before would need to get programmed into the current Live/Alpha-Servers first ? I am sure whetever it is something this big, or less big -> it is being done anyway. Either sometime soon, or maybe in a Year or above.
I wouldn't be surprised if Sir Steven and his Team want to finish building/creating the Open World completely before.

Each time a LOD (level of detail) is increased, the texture graphic required has to be created and tested, including what screen resolution it will be used in, and how all the higher textures fit together to avoid gaps, artifacts and things I know nothing about, so it can be time intensive. Planning for better graphics to be used sometime "in the future" doesn't work because newer graphic features become available as the GPU cards/DirectX and Unreal Engine progress their feature list that players will want, so what may have once looked desirable is now out of favor. If AoC does another engine upgrade then bumping everything up to current standards would justify all the texture rework. The other downside to providing extremely high graphics is the average player will want to max out but discover they can't run with a decent framerate which causes people to complain.
Well yes those are rpgs while ashes is an mmo, but still, with the supposed dynamic gridding, there is also the server meshing and since they even went for unreal engine 5.6 it makes be believe that should/could be possible (we no longer in the early 2000's for that to be an escuse, even thought im aware they a brand new company/studio and this is their first game) plus origins/odyssey are 8/7 years old games...i dont really own a top end pc and also you can go check the requirements for those games.
And if they want to succeed they gotta push themselves and do better (that was the spirit with Larian Studios aka bg3 best experience i ever had with devs, they always tried do better and find solutions (my feedback was acknowledge and pretty much right next patch they would have done something about it)).
[we know how it goes when there is overpromises and then they fail to meet players expectations and deliver something already quite outdated for nowadays standards (a phenomenon we have seen occurring in the video games industry).]
