Trying to understand the new skill tree
In the May stream, we got to see this image of the new Cleric skill tree:

In the image, we can see the active skills with a square (with a 3 in the lower left corner) and the passive skills with a circle (with a 2 in the lower left corner). Additionally, the active skills (and some passive skills) have a 0/4 above the square, indicating that it's possible to add extra skill points to the skill.
What do the "3" and "2" in the lower left corners mean? From what I understand, it's the number of skill points needed to unlock it. If you want to add additional points to the same skill, each skill point will add 1.
If you look closely, the resurrection skill doesn't have a number. This tells me it's a free skill that doesn't require skill points to unlock, just investing 16 points in the skill tree.
In a post on X on June 12th we could see an updated version and an image of a tree at maximum level (with all points applied):

Knowing all of the above, we can look at the image of the cleric supposedly at maximum level (50). If we apply the above, the tree would have 62 skill points invested. Where do so many points come from if we only have 50 levels? Let's see:
- 49 points are earned by leveling up (from 1 to 50).
- 10 points are earned at pinnacle levels. Pinnacle levels are 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50. Upon reaching these levels, you earn the normal level-up point and an additional one upon reaching a "pinnacle level."
- 3 points are given at level 1. This allows us to select the first skill we want from the first level of the skill tree.
Do you think my assessment is correct? If not, I'd like you to correct me. I'd like to fully understand what they're trying to offer us with this new system.

Outside of that, I do think your analysis is close to the current truth.
I agree that the skill trees are still far from the final product. In this example, you can see changes between the first photo they showed us and the post they uploaded to X.
As far as I understand, for Alpha 3 the maximum level will increase to 50 (although we don't have secondary classes available yet), so I thought they would show us a level of 50 (also due to the amount of points spent).
Luckily, there are only a few weeks left until we can see all the changes
I find what you're saying very interesting.
Could you tell me which Intrepid stream or video discussed this?
If we were given a skill point every 1/4 of a level, we'd have a total of 196 skill points available. That would apparently be too many for this type of skill tree, since that tree can only be allocated a maximum of 183 points.
If we were given skill points every 1/2 of a level, we'd have 93 points. This would allow us to select approximately 50% of the skill tree nodes. (Something that might make more sense.)
In my estimated scenario, with 62 points, we could unlock approximately 34% of the total points. This would fit more closely with those three main builds.
I'd also like to see the updated Stamina tree. Maybe we'd get points for that tree every half level, to allow for a slightly faster progression?
I hope you can find where they mentioned that topic; I'd love to hear it.
You're absolutely right. I've looked for information on this.
Throughout 2023, they mentioned that the level in Phase 3 would be between 30 and 35 at the start, but the latest comments on this matter have focused on the maximum level gradually increasing.
So, we really don't know the maximum level we'll be able to reach at the release of Alpha 3. It could continue as it is now (25) or a little higher.
It has been said many times, though mostly in relation to augments.
I don't know if it is still the case, but the original intent was that these trees were the tertiary means of class customization.
The first is in your choice of secondary class, and the second is your choices of augments. It is these augments that have always been talked about in relation to three builds per class.
