There is tones of skins you can earn in game as well. Buy them or earn them, it will be few that will show their true gear. There will be as many to earn in game as in the cosmetics shop. disable ingame self-earn skins too. everything that are Skins/Transmog or everything from the shop should be disabled on this premium server. So your asking IS to have a server where a main sorce of income for the game should be totally turned off? yes, That is why access to such servers should incur additional costs like double sub fee This idea gets worse and worse. A pay wall like that would stop many from joining even if they like no one using skins. So a server that makes less money and still needs system resources for a very small population.

Please, after the full release of Ashes, release a server type alongside normal servers where the in-game shop and all its contents are disabled. Access to such skin-free (edit: and Transmog) shop completely disabled servers would require some kind of premium (T2 subscription). I would be willing to pay twice the monthly subscription fee for that.

But that would only be the case if such servers had such a small population that they couldn't cover the server costs. I'm willing to pay double the subscription fee for a good MMORPG. Perhaps many others feel the same way?

Because part of what Intrepid are selling with all appearance items is the ability to show your character to others how you want others to see it. If players have a toggle to not see your character the way you paid to show it, why pay to show it the way you want? Im still of the opinion that a PvP game should only ever show characters wearing the items that they are deriving stats and effects from, but as cosmetics are Intrepids secondary revenue source, their hands are tied in this regard, and no amount of discussion on the topic is going to change Stevens mind.

Long gone are the days when looking at an avatar let you gage how you would interact with them in combat but I would not pay more to have that brought back. It is what it is.

Now, finally the purchases (if any) come into effect and the money spent is paying off, with alpha II:3. I bought more than a handful myself, and in my honest opinion they add an element of flavor and originality to the game. If it were not for unique skins and transmog(s), everyone would look the same. Its cool running across that paladin with knight's armor that not everyone has. Or seeing a guild member or two with a unique blade or piece of armor or mount. It shows dedication and loyalty to the game, and genre. I like it.

Imagine I said I want a PVE only server (multiple threads), a PVP only server, a RP server where I can kick you from it if you do not constantly act in the way that I have approved as being "in lore and character" or a "No Canadians!" server (sorry Canadians for catching that stray bullet). The answer from Steven and Intrepid over the years has always been the same. There will be no alternative ruleset servers. They feel confident that how settlements are meant to change Verra and the content available will allow for people to "create their own story" and that they will be able to survive as a sub only game with OPTIONAL cosmetic cash shop (note the OPTIONAL there, don't want to buy any skins, don't).
