Glorious Alpha Two Testers!

Alpha Two Phase III testing has begun! During this phase, our realms will be open every day, and we'll only have downtime for updates and maintenance. We'll keep everyone up-to-date about downtimes in Discord.

If you have Alpha Two, you can download the game launcher here, and we encourage you to join us on our Official Discord Server for the most up to date testing news.

I really, really dislike having Interact3 forced for my mount on a separate keybind.

Please add the option to put it back to where I can mount and dismount with F again, without sacrificing the other interactions.

Yeah it's just another button, but it just keeps annoying me. It was so nice before. I know, people got too close to nodes or NPCs with their mounts and they sometimes got the wrong interaction (skill issue?). I think it's fine to have the new interact3 option too, of course, if people prefer it like it is now. Maybe it's the same issue for Interact2 and 4 as well, but I haven't gotten that far yet.

The simple solution is to allow us to bind the same key to several or all the Interact options, instead of now where it unbinds F from Interact if I try to use F for Interact3.

Edit: to not sound too grumpy, I think you're doing a great job otherwise for P3

I've almost got used to it, now. [F] for "Fiddle with stuff", and [G] for "Gee up, horsey".

It is actual HORSESHIT. I need these keybinds. It is bad enough we only have three bars to put shit on. Now we are wasting binds on get back on horse? I hate it.

    Sounds like a good solution

Big improvement imo. When you get off your horse next to a vendor, it was often impossible to mount. Pks keep as is.

That's why I proposed to allow people to also use G as it is now, but (unintentionally) punishing the rest of us because of what is essentially a skill issue and overall rude to others (dismounting too close to vendors), isn't right.

It's a cancer on the game.

There should not be 30 mounts on top of every storage and vendor NPC. The mounts should just despawn when you get off them.

There is no reason to reinvent the wheel on mounts by having them stand around for no reason.

I should not be wasting spots on my keyboard for this dumb shit.

This is how it was in Archeage.

If "mounts" are to have function other than speed buff, the game needs to be designed in a way where mounts stay up even if you are not sitting on them.

IMO, giving players more options in regards to keybinds is always a good thing - even if that means players can screw themselves over by setting things up poorly.

    @Noaani

Right now the only thing the mounts do by persisting in the world is serve to make NPCs more annoying to click or be used as corruption bait.

I don't care what Archeage did if it sucks.

This is also not giving more "options". It's mandatory wasted key binds.

The systems aren't being added in for "right now".

We know there are plans for mounts to do other things in the future - mules for carrying things and they have talked about them fighting as well. Then there are two player mounts as well.

It is absolutely understandable that Intrepid need mounts for this game to function in a way where they exist in the world without the owner sitting on them.

The comment in relation to more options was that Intrepid should allow you to bind your keys how ever you want. That is more options. That means binding multiple things to one key if you want, not binding an action to any key, what ever. Should Intrepid take this same view (they currently do not have this view), the only way you would be wasting a keybind is if you chose to do so.

If that is true, then leaving them in the game world "may" not be that bad with some refinements. Like not allowing them to crowd NPCs in town or be used for corruption baiting.

The major issue and the point of this thread that would not change is that it is a waste of a key bind in a game that already has a bunch of key bind bloat compared to other MMORPGs. There are also unused interact keys in the menu, so it looks like they plan on making things worst.

The game already does not allow some keys or combo-keys to be bound. A prime example is there is nothing you can do about F-11 toggling windowed mode. The game does not even allow "F-13" through "F-24". There are various Alt, Shift, and Ctrl combos that don't work This actually makes each key bind more valuable to me. It is very noticeable and annoying.

An easy solution would be to just allow me to make all the interact keys "F", but that is not allowed for some reason.

I must admit that it is taking me a long time to get used too, but I'm sure I'll get there eventually.

More options for key binds imo is the best thing. If it bugs ya, change your keybind.

    Agreed.

To me, this is purely a UI complaint that can be resolved by just allowing more options for players to set in regards to keybinds.

I just had a count in EQ2, there are 294 different functions that players can set to a keybind. Ashes has a long way to go.
