2x Bard Meta not good for the game

I've played Bard in the past 3 phases, love the class, will most likely play it on launch. However, I have growing concerns with how the PvE meta has become 2 Bards.

If was taking a selfish view I'd be like "Cool, find group EZ", but this doesn't bode well for the game. Once you factor Tank, 2 Clerics (another discussion), 2 Bards, that leaves 3 DPS positions only across 5 classes.

I think Bard needs to be reworked so that 1 of them can provide max utility to a group (mana regen and +damage), without requiring a second one. Rebalance Bard so they can take a DPS spot but don't make it so that 2 are required for a group to be at peak efficiency.

Note: I understand that sub-classing is coming, but Intrepid keep pushing the expectation that it won't have a major impact on the core class and it's more a flavour/utility addition instead.

    I think this is more of a player issue than a design issue.

    An 'ideal group' would be 1 Tank 1 Cleric 2 Bard 4 DDs for any PvE group

    I've had groups with 1 tank 1 cleric 3 bard 3 DDs work fine, I've had groups with 1 tank 1 cleric 1 bard 5 DDs work wonderful.

    The double cleric meta is just a player crutch. Most Clerics don't know their job well enough which leads to people thinking you need 2 in a group.

    Also.. Bards can heal 1 Cleric 1 Bard is more than enough healing for a PvE group.

    i see your concern trikki.

    i would take the approach to make all archetypes useful to have 2 per party instead of limiting the well designed ones.
    this should lead to easier party finding as well as keeping all archetypes relevant.
    main tank here so i know how "useful" two of us in the same party are..

    make skilltrees divers enough to enable at least two playstyles and get the respec only in node/settlement plots in.
    ideally the perfect comp is all 8 archetypes, but theres like 20ish almost same efficiency comps.

    I mean there's the weaving talent to run two melodies but it sucks.
    It needs to just make it so you cast the melodies and you're done.

    While I agree the skill to make two melodies active is annoying to keep active I think it should be a skill based choice to use it. The other one that's just a buff being the easy alternative is fine.

    The buff from using two at once needs a little boost because it seems just worse right now because the amount the alternative buffs for.
