Voice Chat Open world.

Considering the current state of the gaming world, Ashes of Creation should really reconsider adding open-world voice chat — and at the very least provide an easy way to mute people. Look at Arc Raiders: tons of players are already creating cool content thanks to voice chat

When you say "reconsider", do you mean get rid of it?
Cos it's already planned as a feature: https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Voice_communications

Proximity-based open-world voice chat that you opt into would be so good.

    No, it wouldn't.

Everyone would opt out of it, except for the kinds of people that are the reason everyone else opts out of it.

There is no world at all where it would be "so good".

AR's example is cool and all, but it's way more of a solo/small group game than a "8v8+++" game. And due to its session nature, you might not even come across the same muted player for days and days, while in Ashes you'd be literally fighting against them over and over again, because leveling is slow and farming spots are limited. And so, if you mute all the bad players (of which there will 100% be a ton in Ashes) - you'll just be playing in voice silence.

Sure, there'll be good people here and there and you might even befriend them, but at that point you'd either join their discord voice or you'd have all the other already-planned ways (party/guild/etc).

Oh, then fuck no. I don't wanna hear any of you guys chatting shit to each other. It's bad enough in Global Chat.

I get it, but that’s why I’m saying there should be easy ways to mute people. Instances like taverns, or a simple auto-mute when entering a city, etc. But this game… when you’re out exploring 45 minutes away from your city on some island and you run into someone — imagine how fun or how many different things could happen through voice chat. People selling potions, offering buffs, recruiting… no no no, it would be incredible. And if you don’t like that experience, you can always mute yourself when entering a city instance.

    You can always mute it.

Came back after the Steam announcement to check out on updates, found that the forum's still talking about the same stuff as 4 years ago, and got a nostalgia hit :D

And no, voice chats should stay exactly the way it is - in parties, raids where vocal co-op's needed, and taverns which serve as a dedicated place for ppl who want to voice chat with random ppl.

As others have said, if you add it in the open world, then everyone will just opt out except for the folks who are the reason everyone opts out.

To be fair, this is the first of these threads I have seen for a while.

Honestly, I just find it a bit amusing how confident you are about what would or wouldn’t work in an MMORPG... better yet, let’s add raid bosses with epic music and rock and roll.

This is why People must be able to de-activate Open/hot-Mic nearby from other Players. Like in Sea of Thieves, where you can mute anyone.

I would love to have Options for this.

    Like :
    - You can mute Everyone
    - You can mute Strangers but leave Open/hot-Mics for your Party-Members open.
    - You can mute Strangers but leave Open/hot-Mics for your Friendlist open.
    - You can mute Strangers but leave Open/hot-Mics for your Guild Members open.

    And lastly of Course,
    - You can mute everyone individually which You put on a Mute-List. Seperate from Ignore-List if needed.

    Problem solved. ;) . :sunglasses:

I am in the guildless Guild so to say, lol. But i won't give up. I will find my fitting Guild "one Day".
