There has been no communication of any kind for the last 24 hours while the game appears to be imploding in real time. Please update the player base on what to expect. It doesn't take much. You don't need a carefully crafted "glorious testers" letter to the community. Just post an update. Please don't ghost us after a decade supporting this game.

There is no communication because there is no one left to communicate with you.

While it may well be that the communication you recieved in the past was from "Intrepid", it was actually from people working for Intrepid. If no one is left working for Intrepid, there is no one to communicate with you.

Despite what some Supreme Courts may say, companies are not, in fact, people. They can not communicate with you all by themselves - they need actual employees to do that.

Now, you may want to say something like "the people that worked there last week should say something", but no, no they shouldn't. First, it isn't their place to say anything as non-employees of Intrepid, and second, they should be attending to their families and other dependents, and looking for work.

Honestly, communicating with you is not something that should be on anybodies mind.

There is somebody at the helm. Someone will shut the servers down tomorrow. This seams like an excuse to ghost out. Frankly,the community deserves an explanation.

I feel sad for you Noaani. You’ve been defending this game for 10 years and you were Steven’s best advocate. But when I came back to this forum after the Steam release, I found it even deader than usual, so much so that I’m wondering whether the old testers had already figured out what was going to happen :)

I've been Stevens biggest critic for the last 3 or 4 years - I'm essentially the reason he stopped coming to his own forums.

I've been posting a LOT less on these forums for 6 - 9 months or so, because I stopped caring about the game as I saw the shape it was taking had no long term future. Most of my posts in that time have been more about the people working at Intrepid rather than the game itself.

I mean, technically yeah, there is someone "at the helm".

The person "at the helm" though, has no access to the accounts you would be expecting to see communication through. The communication you want comes from people - people that no longer have a job. The person "at the helm" has no association with you, no means of addressing the community, no reason to address the community.

I mean, I also feel the community "deserves" an explination, but I also know that just isn't how the world works.

Basically.

It's simple the Dev's took a loan from another company to help fund the creation of the game (despite saying otherwise), overtime the funding company slowly began taking over by say creating a board or directors. Now they're wanting their money so they pushed the game into steam early access. I'm guessing they didn't make enough money to pay the bills so they decided start laying off people, and since what's his nuts lost control and the dev's are all friends everyone is jumping ship.

You know they outsourced their servers, right?

The servers are still up because Intrepid paid the company (AWS I believe, though that is old info that I never bothered re-checking) to have them up. Once the period of time that they are paid for has elapsed, the servers will all come down.

It's now been 3 days and still complete silence. You would think they would have a public statement by now. If the "board" is concerned about the value of their investment they should want to protect their asset against irreparable harm to its reputation.

The "board" wanted to stop dropping money in to a seemingly never ending pit that was going to take more than it was going to ever give.

They aren't protecting their assets, they are cutting their losses.
