After years of being shadowbanned, denied interviews, denied in the CC program, and having actions taken against me for speaking out against Stevens friends, that he would repeatedly unban after all the exploits, RMT and shit that I tried to expose,

I just want to leave here my last forum post saying I hope this man rots in a jail cell holding hands with his MLM buddies. I am glad people are now learning about everything, too bad it was too late. Steven is a man of no integrity and the only people still saying "lets wait for official news" are the ones that never experienced what we did - or the brain-dead white knights.

I'm glad the recent DMs that leaked are a testimony to his character, a man that would treat a multi milion dolar company with hundreds of employees as a private server for his friends. Playing with the jobs and livelihoods of hundreds of dedicated employees that truly believed in the vision. It was NOT a surprise to see he did the same with the companies finances and the shady loans that ended up destroying the project.

My heart goes to all the amazing developers and friends who truly believed and tried to make this project exist.

To all the white knights that still believe in this man and will continue to trust whatever BS he comes up with, don't forget to grab some merch from his brother's company, they just started selling the merch they salvaged from the studio, its exclusive limited-time only!!

Youre a little late, the raiding community told Steven to fuck off years ago - back when he first attempted to say no to combat trackers. I passed that message on to him in these very forums, he gave it a thumbs up.

Funny thing is, the tens of thousands of players that would have been in this game if not for those comments would probably have been enough to prevent all this.

Thats just delusional TBH. Combat trackers do not bring any meaningful playerbase, on the contrary it would result in greater loss because it only appeals to small minority of try hards while alienating more players due to toxic environment it encourages. The fact that you think it would have "saved" the game is hilarious. At that point you are just using unrelated stuff to push your own agenda.

Saying yo uwill not allow a combat tracker at all is actually saying you will not have the kind of combat that requires a combat tracker - which is akin to saying you will not have any top end PvE content in relation to other existing games.

So, Steven didn't just say no combat tracker, he said no top end PvE.

Yeah, that turned away actual hundreds of thousands - if not millions - of potential players, a percentage of which absolutly would have been quite interested in the game.

Keep in mind, saying no top end PvE not only turns those off that are currently playing top end PvE in other games, but it also puts off those with asperations to play top end PvE. That is the majority of the MMORPG player base.

There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of MMORPG players that are looking for a good PvE MMORPG right now. I've actually been saying this for nearly a decade, and in the time I have been saying that, both WoW and EQ realized it, and have started up old school servers that have taken in some of those players as there is literally nothing new being made. People are playing on those servers because it is the best they can find right now, not because it is specifically what they want (I am currently on one of those servers right now - as in right now, I am alt tabbed out).

Obviously not all of them would have come to Ashes, which is why I said the actual number of players they lost due to those comments from Steven was in the tens of thousands. That is realistically an understatement. I personally knew guilds totaling a few thousand players that were considering Ashes until Steven made those comments - and I don't claim to know a large portion of the MMO guilds out there.

I said at the time that I didn't think those comments would kill the game, but they definately hurt it. Turns out I was wrong - just not in the way people thought at the time.

We'll have to agree to disagree there, then, cos to me it's blatantly an overstatement. The idea that "hundreds of thousands - if not millions" of people that would have been interested in Ashes being put off simply because of no combat trackers - It's just bullshit and completely unprovable.

See, as I have said, it wasn't "combat trackers".

Steven's statements about trackers were actually a proclamation about the type of PvE content the game would have. To those that understand, he stated outright that the games PvE, even at the top end, will be simple.

Yes, this turned away the bulk of the MMO population. It is what took Ashes from a game to watch if you like MMO's and are OK with PvP, to a game to ignore unless you primarily want PvP in your MMO. Before those comments, the *potential* population for Ashes consisted of most players that play WoW, either EQ, ESO, FFXIV etc. After those comments, the potential player base for Ashes was basically ex L2 and Archeage players (edit to add, as I'm sure you know, I'm an ex Archeage player).

Obviously not everyone from the games I listed would have come to Ashes, not even everyone would be looking at it. That is why though, i said hundreds of thousands to millions of potential players, and likely tens of thousands of actual players, as opposed to tens of millions of potential players, and millions of actual.

As to proving that, obviously I can't get a sworn affidavit from everyone. What I can do is point to these forums - the lack of PvE discussion that happened after those comments were made is but one sign that PvE players (those that want good PvE, not those that only want PvE) simply stopped paying attention to this game.

Those comments turned this from a game almost every MMO player was looking at in some capacity, to a game that only PvP players were even looking at. You need only look at the player ratio of PvP MMO's vs PvE MMO's to understand how big of an impact that has.

People like steven have ruined the mmorpg genre. may he have bad times in every game he plays moving forward. karma will catch him. also shame on steam, both for not paying the company and not refunding players, easy money i guess….

Preach. It is so insanely Scummy that Steven was actually helping Fuel the RMT behind the scenes with the screenshots that was leaked. COMPLETE INSANITY. He Must of Know His Game was a Pile of Dog Shitake and doomed and had just lost all hope. Honestly AOC's Biggest Problem was always Steven Himself.
