I killed a red and went red. Is this intended?

    Without knowing the details of the circumstance, it's difficult to say. Generally, if you're a non-combatant and you kill a corrupted player, you'd become a combatant. You can read more about player corruption here: https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Player_corruption
