Re: Current Concerns with Player Only Economy
Well here, I'll expand on what I mean: None of this matters year one. - The game releases, everyone is low level, so everyone needs gear at all stages. Gear economy fine. And lets assume the game is a success. - First 6 to 8 months, players are leveling and behind them new players are coming in. - 8 months to 1 year, the… -
Re: Current Concerns with Player Only Economy
I also didn't like that. i bought breath of the wild when it came out and I still haven't finished it. 2 castles left lol. and I'm a huge zelda fan, been playing since the first one on nes. my big flex is I have zelda 1 and 2 for nes golden cartridges and they still work! i also have a link to the past for snes in french… -
Re: Current Concerns with Player Only Economy
The basics of gear churn that Ashes is set to have is an existing, working model for games with similar economies - Archeage being the most obvious. The main driver for gear in this economy is the desire for some players to want that additional 1 or 2%, getting that gets exponentially harder and sees the player go through… -
Re: Current Concerns with Player Only Economy
If you look at it logically from an economic perspective, if you want the price to remain strong, (incentivising artisans to craft) you need to increase demand, or reduce the supply. This seems to be more of a demand problem. The things you can do to increase demand: 1. Make non-consumables need repairing more, they get a… -

This is designed to keep lower tier crafted gear relevant through progression and across expansions.[3][4][2] https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Item_deconstruction And repairing items can be tuned… -
Re: Current Concerns with Player Only Economy
oh so low level players don't need to gear up? what I'm talking about is a game where progress takes long. you will spend months leveling up and trying to get gear then more months leveling up then more gear etc. and even if you could get to max level fast (2 weeks or 2 months), you can still make the best few tiers of… -
Re: Current Concerns with Player Only Economy
not necessarily. coke didnt have to leave the market for pepsi to come in and sell. sure mmorpg are a bit different, but again, you dont need (main) gear destruction. new items can be introduced before everybody gets 100% of the current items. that keeps the economy going forever without having to re farm your main gear… -
Re: Current Concerns with Player Only Economy
he is talking about the last 2 zelda games. they are more of a survival game kind of..most weapons get destroyed after a few hits and you have to get a new one. most shields are also destroyed after few blocks. assuming that happens, they could also craft and sell other things that aren't armor and weapons, such as… -
Re: Current Concerns with Player Only Economy
I'm totally with you on this @Zipp_Adoudel . The mind set to losing/replacing gear is a big hurdle for many players. Personally my focus for alpha 2 will be around the economy and crafting aspects. I have the same concerns about a lack of gear sink. I'm always on the lookout for games that actually support being a full…
