You are a mage in frost resistance armor and augments that work against frost mobs (fire most likely), cause you're in a snow biome. Then you see a ranger (let's assume ranger is the rock to mage scissors) in gear that's the same score lvl as yours. All of those build features are purely horizontal, but you would not win the fight against him. You would most likely not even win if his gear had a lower gear score, because rps is against you and his build is your exact opposite horizontally.
This is why I said that seeing gear score lvls will not be enough to know if you'll win.
Also, I hate transmogs too and I wish they weren't in the game. But seeing a person's entire build is also not something I want. And the middle ground is "gear icons that tell you your target's gear grade", because they tell you their estimated power w/o telling you too much info (just as seeing their gear would w/o transmogs)

To imagine that they have only completed half the active skills by this late date is just unreasonable.
Under your assumption would mean a total of 280 - 320 active abilities across 8 arhcetypes of which only ~130 will be in the inital Alpha II wave I, rising by 20 active with each of the two remaining archetypes for a total of 170. Meaning that at the end of Alpha wave III your saying they will have only finished between 50-60% of active abilities. Are you expecting an entire additional alpha and 2 more years to finish that? Or will it just get squeezed in durring Beta?

Now obviously, the plan regarding the overall number of abilities may change, and it's possible that the 35-40 skills wasn't a statement based on some design schema they already did, but instead just an idea of how they would like things to work ideally.
Which is why threads like this are important. Letting Intrepid know that we might not hold them to those numbers could be helpful.

Soent years playing Archeage.Boys, the moment when a stronger player or a group comes to a spot where you are farming mobs, you will learn very quickly why that's an issue. You will be forcefully kept at 25% HP while PVEing with 0 risk for other side to go PK. Eventually, you die and get death penalty. End of story.
The game had full health displayed.
Never once saw this kind of thing happen. Never even heard of it happening.
I have no reason to assume it would happen in Ashes if they added in full health display.

I don't believe that level indicators will be enough to judge the power of an enemy. Mainly because we'll have way too much horizontality on our builds. And this is not even counting the supposed RPS balancing of class power matchups.
As bloodprophet said, we'll have gear icons on nameplates, so there'll be some form of indicator of our target's strength, but I doubt we'll see anything more than that, nor do I know what more (outside of having full information on the target's build) could help.

Sorry I would like to clarify. I’m FIRMLY in the camp that they should develop at their own pace, I’m just saying I believe the community would appreciate more of a look under the hood, that’s all I’m saying.
That never goes well.
Most players do not uinderstand the concept of "work in progress", which is why Intrepid have moved on to only showing things that are in a state worth showing.

You can't always get what you want.I don’t want to wait 2 years before we get a glimpse of in game augmentation, I want the developers to sit down with us and share some of their ideas and concepts long before we get them as a live stream presentation. Same could be said for the naval content or any number of concepts.
We've been waiting more than 5 years for the last two Know Your Nodes articles. We can't even get that little.
That’s exactly my point, as a community I think we should express that we would like more insight. I’d say go as far as to pressure them.
How about we let them develop the game at the pace they feel they need to develop the game at?
In what way is rushing the developers going to be good for the end product?

What I will do if an influencer settles on the server I am playing on is leave, I am there to play with people who also do this for recreational purposes, not to earn money from it. I don't want anything to do with such people, I don't want them to freely be allowed to use me as a prop in their videos or streams.
As for mega guilds, which can obviously form without influencers: They ARE allowed, but there is no need for the system to cater any more to them than it already does. You have a zerg army of 20'000 players you want to take to a server? Well, tough luck server limit is 10k. Just like its tough luck for me that I will most likely have to pay a fee to change servers away from those where big influencers commercialize the game and recreational players around them.
So: No to special accomodation for Zerg/Mega Guilds.

building up node, claiming castles, improving your guild hall, traveling merchants and caravans, farming, artesan, (even politics), pvp like guild wars, node wars, arena, duels and whatnot, etc... will be things to do that are most likely not really "over" as u hit lvl 50 ... there are so many different "progression paths" that have nothing to do with your main lvl ...
Exactly, you just proved my point.There are many things to do in Ashes of Creation and they are not locked behind the max level. Which means, it doesn't really matter whether it takes 200 or 1000 hours to reach it.
The average player would reach level 50 within approximately ~2 months. It means the only future updates he will care about are those related to endgame. .....prioritize Endgame to prevent players from leaving
imo this means excatly that you assume there is no progression left in the game with lvl 50 and "Endgame content" needs to fill the void that comes after lvl 50 that makes people quit the game ....
im not proving your point ... why does it matter if you are doing stuff with lvl 50 or not ... excatly .. it doesnt ... so why not doing it with lvl 50 ... your whole point doesnt really make sense imo ...
if you feel that people are "done" with lvl 50 and "leave" as you assumed .... people dont seem to grasp what else they can do in the game, so missed out on many aspects of the game ... you assume that people will leave bc they reached max lvl and have nothing left to do "unless Endgame" .... hence you assume that they dont feel like there is something left to do worth while ..... my point is that your whole assumption on people leaving bc of reaching lvl 50 makes no sense in a game that has so many progression paths and moving interacting systems that dont really have something to do with your lvl ....... i say your "max lvl means leaving" assumption makes no sense ....
