Re: The logic behind Tank’s name
No, it will be called Guardian... And currently, you don't carry the name of your class, only the name of your archetype. To get your class name, you have to combine both archetypes, and with a bit of research, you'll see all the names of the future classes...

Re: Why Exclusive Flying Mounts Will Destroy a PvP-Driven Game Long Term
Please draw a red circle around the part of your statement where you addressed what you replied to.And in group play specifically, having a flying mount guiding a fight from above in open world pvp is a massive advantage. As well as for scouting for caravans or for hostile groups hunting your caravans.I yearn for the day when you'll learn to understand that anything individual players do shouldn't matter to you, because competition in groups is what the game is about. The rest is just the connecting interval from one group experience to the next. And if you can't take down the mayor in your 8v8, you needed to bring another player. /thread.Good post.
Flying in Sieges=not bad/interesting gameplay that allows players to focus on leading the groups around to objectives
Flying literally anywhere else is garbage for the game. It allows for massive advantages in Open World PVP, and even huge advantages for getting around to different resources to gather quickly.
Gliding down from elevation can be fine within reason.
Edit: Wait, never mind, I've already done it for you, above.

I understand that, and I think it's important to vocalize QoL's that can make great impressions at first glance that enhance user experience. I think its fair to assume they have thought of this but a small change like this getting moved up in production could be a reason why a player continues to engage in the system or not and for that reason it is worth making this post to attempt to give it a priority over other quality of life changes.

And we will have exactly that. An approximation of what they're wearing in their nameplate. All you need to know is their Power Level.

Re: Fix pve content.
I'd like to throw in my hat.
1. I agree with what REHOC says about capping the levels for enchanting. (and yes he is very passionate about forms and this game. you should read some of his other posts they are very enlightening.) The game is still in alpha, my own party of 4 got wrecked by a lv.13 mage with plus 8 gear (we are all 20+ with ok gear) which is why a cap is important.
2. When the rest of the game comes out there won't really be a need to super enchant early game gear to high levels, why would you need to when you could get a high level drop for an easy to kill mob. The gear will only last till so long when the player gets to a higher level.
TLDR; they need a enchantment cap just for the alpha but will people really want to enchant gear that will fall of at late game?

Re: Quest - The Final Call
Hi there,
I know I shouldn't do it but... i can't find the place (and i love it)
It is a long quest chain... It started on Lionhold, took me to the 2nd Sword Outpost and one of the quests there is to help the Minotaur Wiyakoni.
I won't spoil anything ... the quest works perfectly....sometimes it seem bugged but no, you just need to read carefully the quests and conversations.
After several steps, I end up with our friend T'kano the Sightless, maybe you remember her:
There is a riddle to find a place called "Ancestral Hollow".... whoever finds it, will be rewarded with 1 coin of copper
I love how you described this—it’s exactly the kind of storytelling and quest design that makes Ashes feel alive.
Quests like this one with T'kano and the Ancestral Hollow are a perfect reminder that not everything needs to be marked on the map. Sometimes the best part is getting lost, paying attention, and feeling rewarded for simply observing and thinking.
I remember that riddle too—and I won’t spoil it either 😉. It’s great to see others appreciating the design Intrepid is going for: meaningful dialogue, environmental clues, and actual mystery.
Also… 1 copper coin? Totally worth it. 😂
Thanks for sharing your journey!

Re: Game doesn't need flashy animations
I am all for cutting back on the flash for the biggest sinners but I think striking that balance between "what's happening?" and "I can't see what's happening" is an iterative work that can take time, and thus falls quite far down the priority list.
Wouldn't be terribly surprised if we see tuning passes for this in late Beta 1 or even 2.
That said the absolutely most egregious of flashing skills should perhaps get a quick fix to their glare so we can keep testing without fear for our retinas.

I believe they have many QoL updates like this in the pipeline to push out when they have time for it. It's been mentioned that crafting/processing won't be locked to 1/5/10 etc., and we'll just have to wait for it to be rolled out.
Re: Fix pve content.
Your feedback makes a lot of sense, and I can see where you're coming from. If Ashes of Creation allows low-level gear to be over-enchanted to the point where it outperforms mid-tier dungeon drops, then it devalues PvE progression and discourages people from running dungeons like Carph.
🔹 Why This Happens (And Why It’s a Problem)
1️⃣ Enchantment Scaling Issues – If +8 Level 10 gear is stronger than Carph drops, then there’s no reason for players to grind dungeons. This leads to a situation where crafting > PvE and discourages dungeon participation.
2️⃣ Resource Sink Imbalance – If Carph gear costs too much to enchant, while low-level gear is cheaper and stronger, players will naturally skip the dungeon grind.
3️⃣ PvE Content Devaluation – If dungeon rewards aren’t worth the effort, it reduces the incentive for group play, making PvE feel optional instead of rewarding.
🔹 Possible Fixes to Keep PvE Relevant
✅ Limit Enchantment on Low-Level Gear – Just like you suggested, restrict how high Level 10 gear can be enchanted so it doesn’t overshadow dungeon gear.
✅ Buff Dungeon Drops – Carph gear should naturally outscale enchanted low-level gear to ensure dungeon progression remains valuable.
✅ Lower Resource Cost for Mid-Tier Gear Enchantment – If Carph gear is too expensive to upgrade, players will avoid it. Balancing resource requirements can make dungeon gear more viable.
✅ Introduce Unique Dungeon Perks – Instead of just stats, dungeon gear could have exclusive effects (like bonus damage to certain enemies, PvP resistances, or passive abilities) that make them worth grinding for.
🔥 Ashes Needs Strong PvE, Not Just Crafting
I completely agree—if Ashes of Creation is designed to be a living, breathing world, then PvE content needs to feel meaningful. Right now, if enchanting + crafting outshines dungeons, it turns the game into a crafting simulator rather than a balanced MMO experience.
Your feedback is absolutely valid, and I hope Intrepid considers adjustments to maintain dungeon relevance.
Thanks for bringing this up! Would love to hear if other players feel the same way.
You have a new friend AKA REHOC
AI generated responses in a forum for a game that is not even released yet is insane
I like forums, I'm passionate about the project, and I enjoy making friends. A hug for you. The topic to discuss here is Fix PvE content.

Re: Linux Tips, Tweaks and Troubleshooting Thread
I am not sure what changed, but I also have an issue with the game. I'm running the lutris version, played last weekend without an issue. However, today when I tried to run the launcher, it went black. from what I remember, that was an issue with the dxvk config? I do however have the config file set with the `d3d9.shaderModel = 1`. Anyone has any tips on debugging this thing? Thanks
Did you install a update for the Intrepid Studio Launcher before? If yes, it should be easy fixable.
What, why ever, happens during the launcher update is, in the registry the compatibility mode for webview gets changed from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1.
To revert this change, you can open up lutris, select the Ashes of Creation entry and then click in the bottom bar the arrow up, right of the wine glass. There you can open the registry and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\AppDefaults\msedgewebview2.exe. Here you should find a entry named 'Version', which now most likely shows 'win81'. Simply change this to 'win7' and restart your PC. Then everything should be okay again.
I hope that helps you.
