What Classes do you hope to see in the game?
As the Title suggests, what classes do you hope to see in the game? There will most likely be the 'Base 4' Classes, Spell Caster, Healer, Tank/Fighter, and Ranger. But what do you hope each class can do specifically? I personally would like to see a Tank/Fighter who weilds a large scythe in battle, decapitating the enemy with strength unparalleled using a tool which was once used for farming. But other than the base classes, what combination of classes would you all also hope to see in the game?

A class that uses psychic powers would be interesting as well, to be able to use the enviroment around them to hurl rocks or whatnot, or going about choking people with their mind, would be pretty neat.

I know where you are coming from, I love the ability to have a pet as a ranger, although usually the pet doesn't offer too much from what I've seen in some other MMORPGs.
Hurling rocks, Earthbender? And Choking with their mind, Darth Vader? Haha, but that sounds cool, maybe a class which abilities change based on their environment and location, if you're in water then you use the water for your abilities but if you're in a desert then you hit them with sand.
Here are some examples
Ranger ~ Gunner, hunter, bowman/woman, marksman, some sort of magic bowman, etc.
Wizard ~ Mage, warlock, shaman, conjurer, necromancer etc.
Swordsman ~ Berserker, protector, paladin, etc.
Rogue ~ Stealther, pocket picker, assassin, etc.
Mender ~ Druid, priest, medic, etc.
Personally this is what I hope will happen. I do however think this will be very similar to WoW's specialization system.

This sounds quite reasonable, although I hope some of them won't make the cut. With cut I mean, I hope they won't put something like "gunner" in, cause its always bugged me that everyone uses sword/shield and then someone uses a gun (but its personal preference I guess :))
That being said, I hope they go more for the PoE approach, where you go for a main class, and then you get to pick a skillpoint every level. Basicly the skill tree makes you build whatever you want, but leads into an achetype.
I really liked that games approach in that sense, it had like a rapier class, depending on what way you went, you could go for speed atk, magic "stabbing", summon minions etc. It just had a bunch of different choices, that also might suite a game where your gear isnt uniform (I have a feeling that the gear won't be uniform at first).
EDIT:
Side note I completely forgot about, in PoE your attacks/spells where mostly designated around your weapon choice + spell gems you put in it. So the "rapier class" was actually just a choice if I remember correctly :) (I used one guy build around speed, elemental and melee dmg, basicly you dance around an enemy and get bonus dmg from stacking different elemental effect on them:))
IMO, thats part of the fun to playing this type of game. Leveling the different types of characters allows you to experience a different storyline...the more content the merrier to me...
Jack of All trades, Master of none... unless you count vocals :)
#Support Role Hype
Banded, Chain , Leather , Studded Leather, Half plate? keep it light , keep it simple.
Instruments, 1 hand weapons, dual wield, no shields, bucklers? no two handers or why not? bows sure, slings, darts, throwing knives!
Yep Charisma primary stat, Dexterity maybe, a mix ?!?! Who would of thought right? I mean if they even that attribute system hehe.
Build as a melee bard, magic bard, ranged bard, buff bard, debuff bard, cc bard? Jack of All trades, Master of.. some?
A lot can be done with the Bard class concept, the list goes on.
That is from an interview with mmogames.com

Everquest 2 instantly comes to my mind , actually so does Rift ... oh and.. *rambles on*
but If you ask for specific class.
Necromancer would be something I would love to see.
Maybe some sort of Duelist class that used one hand speed weapons, something that don't use an axt, mace or a even a long heavy one hand sword, but more on the line like a saber or rapier build for simple speed.
[quote quote=1421]One of the things I loved most about a game was the ability to become something no one else was able to be without a large amount of effort and time spent into acquiring it. I.E. like becoming a Jedi in Star Wars Galaxies. It shouldnt be easy to acquire, it should not be easy to level up, and it should be highly respected if you did acquire it. No MMO has offered this since SWG and it was GREAT!

Can't agree more, as they announced the death knight for WoW I was ready to make a hard and long Quest chain, maybe even sacrificing one of my high level characters. But then the killed it.
I would love to see something like this.
Doesn't that sound like a very active role? Choke holds for silencing or sleeping a target , armbars to negate a melee attack , disarming the enemies weapons , body slam into a pin to prevent targets movement , pile-driver into a stun , sucker punch for a daze effect , eye gouge for temporary blind ? These could count as forms of debuffing or crowd control depending on the ''move'' applied to the target. . .. I could think of a wack load more ideas and effects but those are off the top of my head almost instantly.
You could even create buffs like ''intensive training'' that acts as a group buff or maybe an aura for stamina+strength? How about shouting at your party members? It could act as a ''morale boost'' reducing the duration of anyone suffering from impairing effects or gives a party member temporary attack speed boost ?! How about being a personal body guard with buff called ''taking 1 for the team'' which allows you to sacrifice the buff to steal 100% aggro for 6 seconds but you lose 90% of your total health pool at the end of the duration? lol Again I'm just rambling off ideas
OF COURSE a name ! Whats a cool class without a cool name to compliment it.. how about one of these?
Brawler / Bruiser / Bully / Brute / Basher / Bone-Breaker
But this class would need special weapons. I haven't seen any topic on this one. because I don't think swords or other normal Fantasy weapons would go so great with this class. maybe some sort of melee weapon like fighting gloves and boots.

What would make the differencce for you?
But I agree, make Assassin as one of the class combis for main class Rogue player .
but a rogue-rogue should correctly fill its fantasy, which for me is more a treasure hunter, a thief and a deceiver, expert in dungeon delving, detecting traps, deactivating them, etc...
rather than a guy that ports to your back and stabs you, that's to me the difference between rogue and assassin
As someone suggested in Discord, maybe some mechanic to sneaky steal goods from a caravan without combat, or breaking into player houses...
I'd go more for the treasure hunter and deceiver personality of a rogue, giving them some mechanics to see and deactivate traps maybe, and some kind of silver-tongue trait to get better deals with NPCs (?)
Dunno, just hope they make a good rogue archetype apart of the assassin.
edit: also hoping for good bard fantasy :D
Maybe there should be a thread about weapons?
For an Assassin I would like to see wires as weapons to give bleed damage and maybe cripple the enemy. or make him unable to move in the area without taking damage.
Well I wasn't thinking about the Indiana Jones type of treasure hunter :D

HERESY! XD
No but this would still make an interesting weapon for classes like this. mid range but not heavy or needs ammunition.

Do we get high heeled thigh length leather boots to go with though ?
Or maybe just a Paladin/Crusader/Templar/Whatever-they-call-it that can use a polearm so that way we can avoid gender-locking crap that nobody likes.
I love the complex melee/bleed playstyle with high mobility.
Also druids are so cool in WoW because they can shapeshift and get new skills and passives ect ect.
