I like the concept of a “nickname” or “secret identity.”

Like… my character name is Bruce Wayne, but my secret identity is Batman. Ideally there could be game mechanics around that, if you wanted or needed to conceal your identity, this would be a vehicle to do so. Lots of stuff to work out, but… neat <img alt="?" src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/2/svg/1f642.svg" />

SPOILERS OMG! GG Just ruined Batman for me…

Anyway secret identities sounds nice, but how would you propose it was “used”? (I can’t really picture it right now :/ ).

Well if someone approached you and called you by a secret name, you would know they were a member of the secret organisation you belong to.
That organisation could be nice or nasty.

Surnames use to relate to role/profession at one time.
So perhaps...name/surname could be organisation specific.
  • i personally like titles and surnames , Ranks only earned through pvp , tittles through Political acheivments or through crafting / farming.
  • Prefix-Name-Surname
    Guild Tag
    Alliance Tag

Rank , prestige, should be buffs anyways

The idea might work like associating a secret identity with a disguise... a costume or outfit that would temporarily hide your identity. I'd have to do some digging, but CoE and Revival both have this concept with really neat use cases. I'll do some research!
  • I still like the way Ultima Online does it with just your name w/wo Guild, that shows ingame.. If you inspect a player you get the rest of the titles he/she has or wants to show. You earn titles by doing crafting skills, combat skills. Fame/Karma (this one you gain or lose points in depending on what you do in game..ie good deeds vs bad deeds, pvp vs pve), in the older version of the game when you died you lost Fame/Karma points the longer you were dead and the more times you died, so you might start that day being "Pugroc the Famed" and die 2 or 3 times and end the day with "Pugroc the Good" , or you might gain enough points to be "Pugroc the Glorious". You started with zero points and either worked your way up or down (yes there are positive titles as well as negative titles), you might start the day positive and end the day negative or vise versa. All the PKers had very low titles the lowest being "Dread Lord/Lady" , on the other side were the very "good" players that had the highest titles "Glorious Lord/Lady". There were a bunch in between.
  • Personally, I like it simple. A surname is okay. But some people tends to go nuts with surnames as well, and all you see is a wall of text floating around.
    Naah, keep it simple!
