Deleting threads isn't going to stop people from asking questions :)

In fact, you might force people to making these concerns much more public then here in the small world of your forums.

I will grant you that the deleted thread was bound to be a hot button issue but shame on you Intrepid Studios for deleting the thread instead of addressing the questions and concerns posed and locking it. This only further cements my suspicion that you purposely erased your website's history from the WayBack Machine and other internet archival services for questionable reasons.

Here is a screenshot of my question that still remains unanswered:

https://i52i.imgup.net/deleted-th7b29.jpg

In case it doesn't show, I would like you to define your "core viable product" so backers will know what you consider complete and you can walk away from your money back guarantee knowing they got what you promised them.

  • In before the delete :(

Besides the mods bait, I agree with you. Proper way of handling this was to lock the thread.

<em>Edit: ahhh just found this from Steven, heh.</em>
  • Let it go Elsa Altay...
  • Time to just start banning you people from the site. You are making a mountain out of a mole hole. Its funny to think you really think an MMORPG will be an abuse for something like this. Yea some people will drive others nuts about buying shit in the cash shop just so some moron can make money BUT the Ignore button is easy to use and it would be just as easy to break a referral if that shit happens.

You are just got your head stuck up your asses just like you do on the MMORPG.com forums and do nothing but bash this game. Just like you bash it for not being another WOW Clone on the forums. So do us all a favor use the door and leave everyone alone.
  • Before people start assuming things. The forums are having issues right now and they are going to be updated. It seems to be inconsistent and even editing a post can cause it to be deleted, though I just repost it then.

Screenshot of community manager talking about it, this was on Monday and they are testing new forums this week.

  • This two guys clearly have an agenda against the game. They should be banned.

Love it:) nice of you to find that.

People don't jump to conclusions anymore they flippin fly to them.
  • yea, if you edit a post more then once it usually gets flagged as a duplicate and deleted.
  • If it was deleted, that would be pretty tasteless. It should have just been locked. I'm waiting for more info and development time before I make any judgments based on the concerns that have been brought up by the likes of the OP, but if such threads just keep disappearing, then THAT I will take as a bad sign.

Not really because these are the same people that came here from MMORPG.com saying the same shit spreading the same false information and demanding that the developers change the system because they dont like it. Well I hate to say it but its fucking time we subscription lock this forums or give access to the forums for anyone who backed the kickstarter. Some people come here directly to troll this game because they want to. It does nothing but spread lies to sabotage a game they have no belief in to begging with? So why the fuck are they even here. At some point its time to start banning accounts and delete a load of crap. Its one thing to get your facts wrong its totally another to be aiming at hurting a game just because your a dick.
  • O BTW Holy Ass hole here is PottedPlant22 on MMORPG.com http://forums.mmorpg.com/discussion/463797/ashes-of-creation-and-the-multi-level-marketing-connection Its time to contact MMORPG.com and have him ban from there and ban his account from here. He is just dragging the game through the mud right now.

Agreed. A forum account -- on any forum out there on the Internet -- isn't an automatic right to spread nonsense and to try and destabilise a successful crowd-fund. The game's well within its rights to do whatever it likes and, just because you don't like it OP... boo hoo. Guess what? You don't make the rules. You don't set the agenda. Have a good day!

So by that logic, I can spend a weekend coding up some UE Blueprints, get someone to help me make some cinematics, pitch it on Kickstarter promising to pay you back if I don't hit an undefined milestone, and if you challenge me on it, I can do what I wish with you.

I have not been spreading non-sense. I have asked the same questions repeatedly and been met with deleted threads and posts, locked from creating new threads, the founder implied I am a troll, and I have yet to see any answers. If you think a few of us challenging the developers is too much to take, you have no idea what you or they are in for when they collect their millions and fail to produce. That is why I'm asking the questions NOW, before I pledge, so I can know that I did everything I could to protect my investment should that happen, and not be part of the circle of falling for a KS hype, watching it fail, complain, rinse, repeat.

Gonna +1 this one here, I feel I'm in the same boat.

To everyone else: the people attacking us personally based on valid facts and questions raised are those that are doing a disservice to this game and community. Trying to actually elicit critical thinking and reactions without resorting to personal attacks is something a lot of the more vocal folks should learn to do around here.

We want the same thing you do: a great game with an amazing community. But if you think everyone coming out and promising you exactly that is right and shouldn't be criticized, then you live in fantasy... what is called "fanboism".

    Peace guys.

Well, let's see. Here's what happened:

    * this gets posted: https://www.ashesofcreation.com/forums/topic/forum-guidelines-update-5317/;
    * at the same time at least 2 threads got deleted;
    * at the same time at least 2 forum-goers lose the ability to create threads.

So it doesn't mean it was not a bug, but it damn well looks like it could be moderation.

Sounds like total BS to me. Anyone who wants a "great game" would be doing everything to support the Kickstarter, and not spread FUD on every outlet they can while that crowd-fund is running. That's point #1. Point #2 is the questions being asked relate to subjects that will clearly play out over time. Support the game, or don't support it, but for chrissakes, give it some time to hire the new staff and actually start building on its base before asking what you believe are "hard hitting" and "important" questions. All you're doing is hurting the "great game" you suggest you are really into, but every action you make suggests the opposite.

Using this same logic, I want great democracy so I guess I should just support Trump and hope he does what is best for this country?

And I'm not the first to derail this thread into political nonsense. Comparing people with legitimate concerns about the viability of the coding to Trump conspiracy nutjobs is a tremendous straw-man argument.

Well... uh... without being too obvious, that's how life works, in general. You back what you think the best solution is. It might work, it might not. What you <em>don't</em> do, is claim to have backed something, then constantly death ride it. Pretty obvious!

No, what's pretty obvious is that you're not going to change your mind.

And what you described is not life but faith. Religion might work, it might not! Plenty of people back what they think the best way to live their life is.

And I'm not "death riding" anything. I'm trying to find out what the developers are doing to ensure that their code is 100% up to the task of what they want to do. I can support something while still asking questions. A confident hypothesis or product should stand up to that questioning. Anyway, I'm going to make a very obvious logical fallacy here but you must have obviously skipped your critical thinking classes in school.

Why would I? I'm satisfied with the vision laid out. I've put my money down. I'm open to seeing what happens next. I'm not the kind of person who pretends they've backed something, then makes a huge song and dance number out of spreading FUD in the community (the result of which can only be negativity), then claims it's part of some righteous crusade and anyone else not doing the same is crazy. What the game needs now is support, and people sitting back and letting them get on with it, so they can start showing us stuff. THAT is what I'll judge, myself. Not constantly defending stuff they really shouldn't be getting bothered with at this stage. Look, it's really simple. If there's too many red flags for you, just don't back it! Easy.

The game needs support right now, not people making others wonder if their being scammed just because the game is early in development. If you don't like what you see, don't back it but there is no reason to start trying to make people think that the game is a problem when you really don't know.
