I was thinking the exact same thing. In EQII, my two favorite toons were a thief and a cleric. However, I don't think we know enough about the classes to be able to determine how a rogue/cleric combo would work in this game. We've seen examples of how a fighter/mage would work, but what abilities would rogue/cleric bring that would support each other? I mean, stabbing some one in the back and then healing them seems rather counter
productive :-)
In addition a bard/rogue could augment a "Convince" ability with a rogue aggro dump and be able to transfer aggro from one player to another similar to a Misdirect ability - Convince the boss mob that the cleric/cleric is not the danger but the tank/tank is.
A tank/rogue pair could aggro dump and swap off on the raid boss using this augmented ability rather than just "When I taunt, you /dance".
So planning on tank/cleric but could see tank/rogue when warranted.
Cleric / Tank
Cleric / Bard
Depending on more info later on abilities and how the classes interact.
Also probably at some point almost exclusive to how stealth works either
Rogue / Rogue
Rogue / something else horribly annoying in pvp
Whichever variation provides the most player buffs, enemy debuffs and least amount of me actually DPSing or being a primary healer.
I'm thinking either Mage/Cleric or Mage/Bard are the two most likely.
Cleric/Mage
Cleric/Ranger
Cleric/Fighter
I'd like to mainly stay supportive, but I would also like to do some damage if I need to. I'm assuming the sub classes will be a lot weaker and give you a decent boost, so a fighting secondary for bad scenarios sounds pretty decent right now.
Everyone is coming up with interesting ideas though, can't wait to see a bunch or rogues running around by the look of this thread lol.
Ranger/Rogue
Rogue/Bard
Cleric/Rogue
Bard/Tank
Tank/Bard
Can't really decide on a second class
Summoner / Tank for beefier summons?
Summoner / Mage spell casting summons?
Summoner / Bard Permanently speed buffed summons?
Summoner / Ranger Summoning at greater range so I'm even further from danger?
Summoner / Rogue Stealthed summons?
Summoner / Cleric HEAL TRAIN
Summoner / Fighter THIS. IS. SPARTA!
Too many unknowns.
I'm a rogue at heart.
1.rogue/rogue or rouge/ranger
2. summoner/rogue
3.mage/rogue
these ones I will be playing. I'm looking forward to it.
Secondary top choices::
1) Tank secondary - Some extra CC would be great, and just higher resistances
2) Mage secondary - Magical shielding, and more hybrid heal/dps
3) Summoner secondary - Angelic creatures to assist your fellow mates or demons if that's your roll
Secondaries that I likely won't choose:
1) Rogue secondary - Doubt you can heal and do anything stealthy at the same time, perhaps you can drop aggro, but who cares if the team is dead
2) Fighter secondary - Maybe if you become a monk and use martial skills to help escape, but not sure how else this pertains to my role
3) Ranger secondary - No idea. Higher cast range on healing would be alright though.
Small chance secondaries:
1) Cleric secondary - Doubling down seems very boring, even if it's likely very viable
2) Bard secondary - Likely synergizes well, but just doesn't fit me from an rp standpoint in my mind
Prediction: Cleric/Tank
Cleric / Ranger
:))
