  • I think the attraction to NMS was not the fact that it was "space" but that it was more of a "God Game". I still fall back to Lionhead Studio's "Black and White" like it's a comfort food. I wanted to see NMS be a GOD game where you could influence the advancement of other civilizations by simply visiting their planet or altering the DNA of the many different fawna to seed sintient life.(sorta like SPORE) P.S. you have to admit, after EQ Next and the **** manga wee wee FF 1-19 games where you pay for absolutely everything via your CC# that its expected some in the community are suspect of being told they can have everything. Its like even the good games that I played heavily for a year who said they'd never go F2P and said they'd never have instances behind pay walls in fact did so eventually.

  • OP states valid concern - everyone loses their mind!
  • This user is some game company spy or some kind of really salty hater, he's only been doing negative posts with no base or proofs, all based on his own opinion or the "assumption" style of talking (As no proof and just talk).

You guessed it, I am an alien under disguise trying to burn down the perfect.
  • Just cause we can't see the end of the universe it doesn't mean there is no end.
  • Speaking as a Kickstarter backer and someone who definitely hopes the game succeeds, I have somewhat similar concerns. Specifically, AoC almost seems to good to be true. The game promises to have so many different systems (nodes, carvans, sieges, housing, politics, subclasses, arenas, quests, dungeons, raids, etc.) in significant depth that it's hard to see how they will accomplish it in their time frame and budget. I have something of a hard time believing that an independent studio can produce a game with more content than those produced by major developers with high 8 or even 9 figure development price tags. But maybe technology has advanced over the last several years to the point that it's possible. Or perhaps Intrepid can save time on certain systems (e.g., quests) compared to how other game handle them in a way that still leads to a fulfilling expeirence.

Ultimately, I look at my Kickstarter backing of AoC the same way I'd look at buying a stock option -- I hope that it pays off big league, but I realize it may be worth nothing at all.
  • The reason why most people have backed this game is because it is bringing something new and interesting to the table. with innovation, there will be problems but it's all risks we have accepted by becoming backers. I think the fact that they are working on their "four pillars" is a great idea as it sets the group work for the whole game instead of working on everything at once like other game companies. over time it will hopefully grow from the "basic" idea into one of the best MMORPG's ever made but that's just how I feel.
