Computers are great for fast computations. Their potential for calculating more complex systems is undervalued in games sometimes. Or maybe, like most things, such detail doesn't cover the cost of bang-for-buck.

But out of interest is would like to see the less common,
Slings, Flails and Boomerangs
The chain-linked Kama would be cool but probably an issue... Along with the bladed whip. viciousness in its purest form that one lol.
A sword-spear would be pretty cool to see it was a rather rare weapon in general. (think a greatsword connected to a shorter spear shaft)
Lances as well but I guess that's sorta covered by polearms.
Scythes, Hook swords(mostly cause they look cool maybe a bleed bonus to a blade like that?)
Some fantasy caster amps like MathiasCB said. Its kinda boring when all the casters have the same magic focus implements.
All forms of shields especially things like towers, spiked, and deflectors like bucklers. Not all shields are totally defensive you know. Getting hit in the face with a wall of steel or spikes isn't really a comfortable experience lol. I probably forgot some stuff but that's all for now.

Others I would love to see are hook swords, rope darts, tomes, magical orbs, fist weapons, throwing darts/stars. I would love to see them incorporate as many different weapons as they possibly can, to promote as much diversity in the game as possible.
Love the idea of special gloves for casters maybe add some trinkets or totems to fill the weapon slot as well.
Polearms are also great and would love to see them used for their purpose to keep enemies at a distance.
What i really want to see in this game is that all of our choices have benefits and consequences. everything from weapon choice to crafting should have many options each with their benefits and drawbacks.
Would love to see dual wielding with Sword/daggers and two axes or hammers and have each weapon have a strength against a certain type of armor. It would make carrying a couple weapons prudent because maybe that gargoyle is resistant to slicing but weak against impact.
Please IS give us choices and have faith that we are able to make them.
Maybe we should make a Doc and put everything with a base, example and definition of each weapon suggestion in there so that devs could see it and use it as a "community wishes" kind of stuff, so they can choose to add some of the suggested weapons plus the ones already planned from the devs.
Creative Mage implements like things they wear so the hands are free to do casting gestures
Thieves weapons like blow guns, throwing darts/knives, bolos
Would also like to see a whip.

... Or any kind of polearms really, lots of games miss them out as weapons. Ones that come with two blades on each side and you can twirl them about for some fancy animations would be pretty sick. Halberds/Poleaxes are also nice, and I think could fit into the narrative easily.
But for me personally usually play the tanking class so I'd actually like some variation in what you can use as your main and off hand. Seems like most games stick you with a gigantic shield and a shortsword. If I can get something like a rapier and a smaller shield - like some kind of buckler and look extremely classy instead I'd be thrilled.

Well you stated it all. I would also add some spears that could be slow medium ranged/fast melee weapon. I know going hybrid seems over the top but one can always dream :D

Edit: I would like to see Gladiator type weapons in the game Same with armor as well
