  • To be fair I can kind of see where @Bigman1182 is coming from regarding the wording of the pledge but having said that, I pledged regardless because I didn't think for 1 minute that the 2000+ that pledged $500 upwards would get into the earliest Alpha. It's simply too many, and I suspect most of the game's features wouldn't even be there to use anyway.

So, I just found out some very upsetting news. People that are funding the game through kickstarter, backing this company, taking the risk of backing by buying a founders pack, does not get you alpha until Q4 2018. So why is it that the people that are getting free keys through twitch giveaways and forums giveaways get into alpha before the end of this year? Seems a bit Star Citizeny to me, and I will be cancelling my pledge.

Also, there are no guarantees "when" the giveaway keys will be let in, but it's at the discretion of Intrepid.
Shunex has confirmed that the giveaways alphas are at the end of THIS year, while the kickstarter phase 1 alpha starts in Q4 2018 many times, including in this thread.

So even though you may of backed the game on kickstarter (thank you for that) they have brought in more people who have backed the game.
I had brought 7 other friends who all also purchased the Royalty pack, and all but one of us have cancelled it due to the fact that we have to wait over a year and a half to even get our first alpha
I call 100% BULL on that. It is common knowledge for one that any MMO takes years to make. The fact that any of you thought you'd be in soon is just laziness on your part.

I also don't believe for a MINUTE that 7 people spend $2,500 each and then pulled out. I don't think you can convince me otherwise. That is a Middle School level BS tale if I've heard one.

You don't back via kickstarter to get early previews. You do it because you are passionate about supporting the RELEASED product.

They didn't mislead, they didn't lie. It was nothing but incorrect assumptions and ignorance on your part.

    All bought Royalty... RIGHT.

That is very much in no way a guarantee, like I said :)

"Invite to Closed Alpha - Phase 1 (Earliest Access to Ashes!) " Actually, they did with that one sentence on all the packs that include it because that closed alpha phase 1 is Q4 2018, while there is a closed alpha test at the end of this year which the people who win a free key in the streams/giveaways get to participate in.
  • Maybe I am not English native speaker but word "Earliest" is easy to understand. It means that if I am Braver or above I will be able to play it first before others. I do not accept to wait year more after other randomly selected gamers will play before me.
As I understand it at this time, there will be no real "Alpha" before 2018, there will be only some alpha weekends or so.
It will be very unfair if other will play and I have to wait year more.
Its so silly and unprofessional to depreciate best customers. I can spend lot more on this game, but will not do this if promise to be "earliest" will be broken.
If 2017 Alpha will be invite only I expect just to be invited.
Anyway, I wish company and us all that AoC will be great game.
  • Being angry/annoyed about this is so pointless >.>
You looked at the kickstarter project liked it and backed it right?

So why are you being so annoyed and literal about this?
The kickstarter reward is to get into the earliest closed alpha and you will be able to do that so what's the issue?

But fair enough let's take the kickstarter reward literal:
"Invite to Closed Alpha - Phase 1 (Earliest Access to Ashes!) "
An Alpha in a development project is generally seen as the first part of formal testing. This apparently is going to happen Q4 2018.

while there is a closed alpha test at the end of this year which the people who win a free key in the streams/giveaways get to participate in.
Even though ppl call the closed PREALPHA at the end of this year an alpha(cause it's shorter than prealpha) it really isn't one. As far as i know the game is still in development and not in the testing phase yet. (which is exactly why the "alpha" at the end of this year isn t actually the earliest alpha)

Do you think this is too literally now cause it doesn't give you access to the prealpha? Well i guess life is tough...

I'm sure the game is going to be amazing when we finally can play it. But we just need to wait and give the developers time to actually develop a game that "makes mmorpgs great again" :)

Personally i'm looking forward to play it in the "earliest alpha" and i don't really care if it's 2018 or 2020 at that time i just want this game to be developed well!
