I think the moral of the story is that don't go blaming Macs just because Franklin is an ass.  Because, the two have nothing to do with each other in the grand scheme of things.  Franklin sounds like he is probably like that about everything, and not just computers.  ;)
God, Can we get this guy a cookie? A medal?

First response to not get a raging ass-ache and get defensive.

    This guy gets it.

The special printer part made me laugh.  When did this happen, the '90s? ;)
That was one of his demands. He wanted a specific printer and wouldn't use any we had already. How old do you think I am? The 90s... I was dancing around in hammerpants while I drank my Carpri Sun in grade school.

We can all agree that the place shouldn't have hired him and giving in to his demands is just unprofessional.
Unless he IS Steve Jobs your place of work is whipped by anyone that walks in.
I am happy you set it on fire though...

I don't know if giving into his demands was unprofessional, but Franklin's own conduct (if such account is true) certainly was beyond unprofessional.  Such conduct wouldn't keep anyone in any profession for very long.  Perhaps young Franklin learned some hard lessons.  Perhaps he learned nothing at all?  Perhaps Franklin wasn't hugged enough as a child... or maybe he was hugged too much.  We'll never know.

I suspect everyone involved would be happy never knowing as well, if it means they didn't have to see Franklin again.  ;)

Let me tell you all a story about Franklin.

Franklin was a guy my office hired who refused to use a Windows machine, and demanded we buy him a Mac. He then was unable to log into our servers without a massive ball-ache. He then needed a special printer. Our IT guys spent months just trying to get his computer to do what we needed for him to do his job. In the end we partitioned it and put Windows on it anyway, much to his protests.
Let me tell you a story - all of that is utterly false, and due to the ignorance of your IT department :)

So IT is supposed to just drop everything and work on this guy's problem?

The arrogance you imply here is mind boggling...
No, you simply had ignorant, uneducated IT guys that shouldn't have been in the role they had. None of that is anything but trivial.

    Special printer. LOL.

Suffice it to say, Windows-only IT is a dinosaur that doesn't exist anymore.

I'm not going to get into this with you here. This isn't the place, and this isn't what the thread is about.

    Bad poll.

    Sorry you feel that way.

It's not simply how I feel it's because the question and answers don't make sense and don't provide a clear vote or perspective on how people feel. Polls are hard especially when the poster is passionate about an issue.

I do know people who game on Macs (and use them for work) and I do want Mac users to have a game client, but requesting feature creep at this point I don't think is productive because they've explained why they're targeting a Windows launch. The team has said they're open to Mac and Linux clients, but that they their first priority is to get a stable game that performs well on Windows. At that point, if demographics warrant, they'll explore other platform options.

So maybe a better poll would be something like: Should Intrepid devote development resources to a Mac/OSX client for launch? Answers: Yes, No, Don't Care. It cuts straight to the point and provides clear insight into how people feel.

I can understand your frustration and passion about it, but try and think and present your point objectively. I think it will help your cause in the end. If you can show good demographic metrics for Mac users then it will help keep that issue at the forefront where it will get attention. numbers == $$

Wont quote the whole thing. Again, I have a pc, so yea. But this story has nothing to do with the poll; the poll is about being able to play a game on a computer, a purchased product. Working for a company is different. Everyone who gave into Franklin's demands are idiots. You guys use pcs, that's what he should have used. But anyway without going over your entire pointless flame post I will say this. Being paid to, and paying to do are totally separate issues my friend.
  • Macs are less known for their games, and more known for their image editors (and other applications), my brother uses a mac keyboard on his PC, but apart from that, all my have pure PC's
