Scientific nodes will be the best

  • The main problem i see with the Science node is everything will be about climate change and renewable energy :p
Except it''ll be more towards literally CHANGING the climate and unlimited power!
  • If you don't get drawn into the black hole.
    That's where the adventure lies!!!

While the Divine Nodes are fighting for whose god is better, while Economic Nodes are fighting to see who can accumulate more wealth, while Military Nodes are fighting to figure out who is the strongest, we in the Scientific Nodes will be figuring out how to get to space and open up the moon zone for our space las-.... I mean, space metropolis.
We could call it a "laser" -- insert Dr. Evil laugh here.

Scientific nodes will be fighting who will steal whose research and patents.
  • I still say divine node will rule over all

@lexmax Doesn't seem like the divines are all that powerful then, does it? :D
  • I prefer divine.

Democracy has been on too long a streak in fiction nowadays.

Since the Gods are real and active on this world I don't think science vs religion is an issue.

    Lighting strike:
An electric discharge between the atmosphere and the ground.

    Caused by:
Heavier, negatively charged particles sink to the bottom of the cloud. When the positive and negative charges grow large enough, a giant spark - lightning - occurs between the two charges within the cloud.

Or an irritated God who is causing the scientific event to happen very quickly.

So the battle is more over power not if science or Gods are real.

I agree. To make the two fit together, I just think of the gods being from a highly advanced civilization, but to us they appear as gods. Of course, some of the gods might be so egocentric they might want us to think of them as divine beings.

    @nagash
The best part about it is, if it wasn't a dig, are the implications of you thinking it might be one. ;)
  • @Sozia I have a large ego and it must be feed ^^

Uhoh, Genocide Papyrus is on a tear again. @nagash
  • @nagash, really? Then I apologize. Of course, it must have been about you.  I think there are even songs about your ego. I had heard that the He Who Shall Not be Named was around here but I didn't believe it. I haven't seen any fouled rivers...

  • It still begs the question can you become a god?
    In game I mean ^^
  • @nagash
I think that with enough power it doesn't matter if you can become a God or not. With enough power people will call you whatever you pleases you.  That is what Godhood might be.
  • @Sozia finally someone who gets it. can we be friends  :D
  • @nagash
Friendship would be acceptable and hopefully a cause for entertainment or wailing, both have their place. I am almost certain you are not a *hugger* and makes the odds of this friendship going well much improved.

  • not sure what node type i'd prefer being affiliated with. I mean what is the deciding factor in this case? What decides which type the metropolis will be?

The world we're coming from didn't have magic, so the Science folk might have some resentment and/or skepticism and/or suspicion.

Node type is pre-coded. We discover the type when the node hits Stage 1 and then we decide if we want to continue supporting that node or find the type we prefer.

Nagash's hug video short *EWW! Get the boy off me!* Yup, pretty much.

@Dygz, there may be some skeptics there always are. However, since the Gods will have a real and present visibility on the world I think that it will be hard to deny that the one who is about to squish your head is real.

It is fun to think about. All these people popping into the new world to be met with  "Choose... choose the form of The Destructor."  ;)
  • I'd like to add that it's not only the node type that I'll take into account when deciding if I should stay or not. It's also the location and the positioning of the settlement itself. I'm much more likely to stay in a node that's beautiful and gives less benefits than to stay in a location that I don't like but which gives a bigger bonus.

The gods exist and do stuff consistently.
    Scientist might not like that.
And some may believe the actions of the gods are a form of science rather than miracles.

  • @Lilem
I totally agree. If I dislike the area then I won't hang there

I personally really like the lore possibilities of science vs magic, especially in this universe where we originated without it. I'm all in on playing a mage, investing heavily into a scientific node, learning alchemy, enchanting, or whatever other mystic-themed crafts they'll have, and really playing into the plot of trying to figure out the mechanics and structure of magic in order to understand and improve upon it.
  • I'm sort of on the side of @Lilem where beauty is very important; but I'd have to check out the benefits; but most likely I would try to find a spot that might have both beauty and the benefits I'm seeking.
  • @T-Elf , my thoughts exactly. I feel like we have a lot of traveling ahead of us.
