What aspect of Ashes of Creation do you think is most important for the developers to get right?

So what do you guys think is the most important thing for AoC to get right?

  • Raids and dungeons with a replay and fun factor out weigh everything for me.
  • All of the above! ????????
  • Gah!! I want to choose several things! But since the revolutionary technology is in the way nodes operate, then that's my choice :)
  • I think everything hinges on the World, Lore and Node system.
  • I like everything they've said they're going to do so far. So they're all important. Stick to the vision of bringing massive back to mmo, staying away from cash grab and/or pay 2 win methods and making mmos great again.

Given the interconnectivity of the beast, all of it.

If you muck up one aspect it will impact on all the others, if you have one aspect that rocks a little too awesomely, the others may lose out...

So they are really playing a balancing game with this one....

However if you're asking which aspect I think is going to be the hardest to get right......
PvP, because it will be such a personal thing to many players...they could forgive buggy nodes, but not so much with the pvp...

It if you're asking which is most important to me personally, then in lieu of a role play community option,  it'd have to be the world and it's lore

    What about yourself @Ti4558?
  • Most important thing for a game is missing. No aspect of the game, no unique innovation and no single thing, no matter how thought trough or whatever it is will matter if what's missing is: being fun.
Look at everquest next... It looked good... Closed shop because "it just wasn't fun"

    Nodes and Guild content.

It is so easy to picture a situation where it all goes wrong: a certain guild becomes a runaway "success" and is suddenly hogging all of a particular content to the detriment of everyone, or attempts to sell advantages for real money.(complete with alts that advertise this in droves..."will win sieges for money! blahblahblah").  or even the generation of resources being mapped to the point where everyone and their mother knows where and when.  That last one I think would be the worst.

The balance between those that play non stop  and those that don't is ever a precarious one.
  • Voted "Other" because I find a lot of things to be very important and there's no multiple choice answer. I feel like I want everything to be great, and I couldn't just discard a feature in favor of others. Even PvP, although I'm not really fond of it.

As others have pointed out. I also voted "Other" because there are many things that are important to get right, and we deserve nothing less. So.. all of the above?  ;)
  • All of the above for me...I'm greedy :P
  • Hard to really select one above any others.

If the combat in pve, pvp is not engaging and in keeping with at minimum the competition, then much of the other content will suffer.

    "You deserve it, Brenda!"
  • It has to be pretty much all of the above.   I sincerely hope they stick to THEIR plans. hopes and dreams for this game as that is what drew many of us here.  If they listen to those who would cry. threaten and demand and loudly that they would only accept what they want, then they might as well quit trying to develop the game now.  That is usually what causes a game to go off it's original course and fail.

Most importantly they need to get it right for BOTH PvE & PvP.  One can not outshine the other.  It sounds like they will  try to make PvP and PvE work in synergy to each other, both in conflict and in aid to advance the game.  This to me adds a whole new level to MMORPG's and the excitement and fun they can bring.
Without good game play and cooperation the story and future of the game will just collapse

  • Server stability, lets face it if they don't get this right everything else will be horrible to play.
  • Go Crafting!  B)
  • I answered PvE but in reality I think it's all of above as other have stated.
  • ANY bugs!  :#
  • Inversely there needs to be a tolerant community, as the developers will not get everything to everyone's expectations on day one.

And some things should be as intended and not folded to most vocal of community will.

The game by design will be an organism that may not go the direction as planned and will require constant monitoring and tweaking from time to time to keep the overall on track!
  • Like others have said the balance between all the facets of this game need to be right.  I'm primarily a crafter so I could have picked that. But for crafting to be good you need consumers to want your goods. No point in being a good crafter if the PvP is so bad no one buys your swords to PvP Etc no point in having a good crafting system to supply them.
  • Honestly, I think the most important thing is honest. What they have to get right is keeping everyone informed and if they can't deliver promises they need to let people know what they are doing instead. Too many games say "After release we will do 'x' 'y'" and never do.
  • Nodes probably is the most important, since everything ties into the node system.  So if the leveling up is broken, new mobs won't spawn, events that should happen won't. You won't get that unlock you've been waiting for.  Or if the Government system breaks where you won't be able to elect leaders, they then can't decide what can be built.  It would have a cascading effect to gameplay.
  • Other:  the finances and sustainability of the game.  Doesn't matter if they get any/all of the rest done spectacularly well if they can't afford to keep the lights on at the office!
  • I just love the game even thought i have not played it, but the node system just seems amazingly cool in my perspectif and i am looking forward to it!
  • More often than not I leave a game because it just stopped being fun, usually due to hacking, bots and a toxic community. I chose other because I think the most important thing to get right is good post launch support. Including good content, timely updates and patches, balancing and GM involvement.
  • LOL Server Stability especially when it comes to PvP, I cannot stand desync!
  • Combat.
Without the good combat the game will be unplayable for me and many others. Combat makes or breaks the game.
Look at e.g. TERA, no real good plot or PVE but the combat... the feels, many keep coming back just because of it.
  • The most important thing for the devs to get right is putting an end to endgame.

Get your alpha testing shoes on Cylver :) Ensuring such a complex and novel game is balanced, enjoyable and meets people's extremely high expectations is going to be a wild ride!
  • The have said many times they are working on the nodes, story, Trading  and fighting which I agree are get points as the world can grow from this base relatively quickly
