What aspect of Ashes of Creation do you think is most important for the developers to get right?

  • Nodes are number 1, but everything is critical to the game. Nodes are number one since they and their associated quests, growth impact the story line and game and are the fundamental aspect of the game assuming you have network optimization ( to support large pvp and pve encounters ), combat is balanced with respect to x v x but appropriate taking into consideration the rock paper scissors scenarios. I could go on but we all know if the game is not foundationally sound it will not work, regardless of how interesting the story and concepts are. The bottom line is you don't want another Warhammer online where the concept was amazing and the story was great but classes weren't balanced from sided to side and the network code failed during the awesome mass PvP encounters over fortresses and zones so badly that almost all the player base left and the game failed.
  • think balance in general will be key
  • i think guilds is what is gonna bring people together to play the game longer, with internal competition it because more fun.
  • To make it quite clear, Their mechanics all revolve around the nodes. but honestly for the wide variety of targets, I'd say they have to nail every aspect.
  • I think crafting should be the foundation of all the systems. Pve and pvp players will need gear and crafters should be able to provide. It is a way for the community to come together and be part of each other's game life. If crafting is ignored then it goes back to all the other failed MMOs where it's a raid grind or battleground grind to get what you need, making a toxic environment. I hope they deliver on the system like they talked about, especially the crafting item creation screen.
  • Combat, because that in my opinion Is one of the strongest immerse factors. Combat needs to feel responsive and it needs to feel good. The animations and the hit fx and sound design is so so so important to get that feel right. I want my strikes to matter, like they would in the real world. I want each strike to be there fr a reason. So much detailwork in getting this right and I hope for the love of God that they prioritize to get it right. If I want t avoid killing beats because its stale and takes time and it's not worth it then something is wrong.
  • Community. I don't even know how to approach this topic, but I know one thing, the community is one of the most important parts of our gaming experience.
  • I just love the game even thought i have not played it, but the node system just seems amazingly cool in my perspectif and i am looking forward to it!
  • I think the single most important thing in an mmorpg is player character interaction. The greatest (and sadly oldest) mmorpgs were the ones without all the convince tools like group finder and fast travel. Group finder makes it so people don't need to talk to people and get to know people. Fast travel cuts out the entire journey, like how would lord of the rings be if it was "here are the fellowship of the ring, they fast traveled to mount Doom and destroyed the ring... They didn't get time to know each other, they didn't have any adventures on route, in fact they don't really give a crap about each other because they barely know each other, the end." The reason they didn't ride the eagles to mount Doom is because it would have been a crap story, no other reason.
  • I said other because if they royally screw up one of these it will either completely ruin the game (like if they screw up PVP or PVE) or make the game a lot less enjoyable (like screwing up crafting)

Everything you listed (and more) needs to be done well to have a truly amazing game with a badass seal of approval. However, the node system in particular has to succeed in order for Ashes to set itself apart from other MMOs, especially when Ashes appears to be using a hybrid tab target system. For fans of action combat, that one feature alone can often carry an otherwise lackluster game for a while (e.g. I played vanilla Tera even though the quests were about as interesting as paint drying). Although most players can manage without action combat, you really need a good MMO on your hands to go back to tab targeting.

EQ Next failed to make a reactive and A.I. based world a reality (not a fault of the production team). It was promised that the band of orcs would get revenge for the outpost camp you burned. The dragon that you awoke would take over your city unless you muster the forces to drive it away.

Ashes needs to accomplish what everyone thinks is impossible. Intrepid needs to create a living world that reacts to the players. There are still so many doubters who say it is impossible with the current limits of technology. Prove them wrong and make MMOs great again.

    Very well put :)

  • I'd vote for all if it were an option, and honestly I was torn between PvP and Nodes. Ultimately the nodes and how they react and evolve to the playerbase is the largest draw for most of us, and if it isn't well developed or lackluster it would be a massive disappointment to us all.
  • All of them! I don't expect something super but the things that are cool if it exist would be...

Nice casting skills, fun PVE and PVP combat. I wanna have fun when I cast a skill, I don't wanna get bored from killing mobs repetitiously. for example, I like the screen effects and slow motion of BDO, and I like that anime style combo charging effects and the sounds giving me the feels like I'm cracking my knuckles, I'm having game-gasm at those moment.
I was once playing this game(before it's closed) and I have no idea why I liked doing the dungeons eventhough the game is 2.5D and limited content, I had fun.

I like how collecting a bunch of monster and killing them with AOE. Swiftness being fast at the right moment, having momentum and physics, camera angle is also important which I think it's really hard to implement these in Ashes of Creation since I sense it'll be more like role playing and nodes, and creating our own book and story.

Also non-combat skills are so important, which I expect but it's also very hard to implement the way I imagined. Much like how that Predator climbed building like Desmond in Assasin Creed kinda skills suffice. A mage doing a spell to open a chest lik Alohomora from HP, or Lumos Maximos like that illumination spell but upgradable. Or Bards singing abilities or Bards silencing or creating a sound from North of the Node while they are planning to attack from the South to divert the att... Okay I'm going to far. A song from Madonna is okay. Or Clerics blessing people with
boost of exp + money, or Rogues just still money from people and having upgradable hiding ability. Or Mages flying...
  • Hmmm, I voted solo content because I want there to be something when all else fails. That being said, I do think that all will have to be a solid 7/10 for the game to live up to the expectations the community has at the moment.
As someone who has often steered away from forums because of their toxicity, I have to say that this community's enthusiasm makes for an awesome forum experience though! <3
  • Dwarves.

    They better get Dwarves right.

If not, they'll be hearing from me!  Bawha!

That would only require a small amount of effort
  • My customized Saeyo button. The game will not work the same without it.
  • What aspect of AoC do you think is most important for the Devs to get right?

    In a word.........yes.

  • Honestly every option is important all of the systems need to be well developed, fun, robust, cohesive and have real depth and meaning. Stay true to the vision that has been put forward, that has so many of us excited and eagerly awaiting AOC.
But I did vote for crafting as I love a really in depth crafting system that has true meaning and plays an essential role in the game as a whole.
  • Many of these aspects are very interrelated. Given nodes are one of the more unique features of Ashes of Creation (that have been announced, anyway), I'd say they're important. However, that and many other things fall under the PvE umbrella that wouldn't allow the game to exist if it collapsed.
