Heya from both Canada and Japan!
My brother and I have thrown in as brave participants of this fancy new world. We've gamed together for nearly 30 years (yep, since the very early 80's) in pretty much every genre, and continue to do so even though I've moved to the other side of the planet (Japan). MMORPGs were what really took us in (and RPGs before that). I'm a crafter/builder type of player (and typically a rogue or ranged player) but I do like some solid PvP/RvR. He's a lethal PvP/RvRer with a long history of DAoC warfare under his belt (typically a caster or rogue) and we often play tandem. We're both looking forward to gaming with this new community, and hopefully (and by the looks and sounds of it so far,) it will be the much awaited next step in MMORPG evolutions from UO to EQ and now this. May it stand the test of time and may many of us still speak fondly of "the KickStarter Days!" in the distant future.

Sounds like you and your brother are a complimentary pair, especially in the way PvP/PvE and crafting are aimed to be tied together. Here's hoping it brings you both great success!

Ironically, in EQ, the Cleric was the one class that I excelled at! But, strangely, when I PVP, I play ranged, or up-close and dirty (preferably dual-wield, with lots of utility). However, I'm not writing off a healer class! Definitely gunna try it out! Might just be my bag if they have utility and can sport some decent armour and battle mechanics!
We're more than happy to get pasted on the field as well. The very BEST way to learn is by being righteously schooled! So here's hoping we're given a proper run for our money more often than not!
I, like you, am a long time gamer (and introvert) who enjoys the ability to socialize in games. I've also lived in Japan (twice, for a total of 8 years). I am very jealous that you're there and I wish I had an opportunity to live there again. For the nonce, I am content to visit our local Japanese market/cafe every week for my Japan fix.
