  • I think all mounts should be as susceptible to death and exp loss as players. regardless of using them like a caravan.
  • What about the Moonstrider?  Doesn't the description say it can carry goods?  I'm not sure I want them to serve as caravans though.

Some of these pics you guys are linking are insane.. do you guys have credit to the artists? I wouldn't mind looking up more of these based on artist.

The ones I linked are all concept art from Ashes of Creation. So I guess credits go to the concept artists?

If you are using your mount to transfer items from town to town to negate the use of carvans, then your mount should represent that it is carrying a load and also be flaggable

I want to see the caravan system utilized and if players negate it, I would like to see consequences.. (especially to catch out bot/farmers)

Mounts cannot compete with nor negate the use of caravans for carrying goods.

@Valentines we know there will be no mounted combat, but there is barding in game.  For sure there is decorative barding but unknown if any barding with stats will be in game.
Ashes has mounted combat, but we'll be using the abilities of the mounts; not the abilities of the Adventurer archetypes.

I didn'to know this. Sounds interesting, but maybe a little hard to be balanced with the "regular" combat system?
  • I would trade mounts for the possibility of purchasing ships and having a journey through the sea. Be the first MMO to unleash massive sea creature raids.

Let me be a rogue pirate!!!!!
There is already a game with this. Really didn't enjoy the experience

As mentioned, you don't have to trade in mounts for this. We get to have both in Ashes!

    from @DeathsProxy 's Q&A 2017-05-17

Naval content. Nothing has really been said about what kind of content this will be. What can we expect?

    1. Putting actual content in the seas
      1. Stuff that happens on the ocean, under the ocean, island chains.
    2. Trying to hit all the pillars (Engaging and Immersive Story, a Reactive World, Player Interaction, Player Agency, and Risk vs Reward.) with this system.
    3. Big enough of a system that it deserved its own stretch goal
      1. A lot of stuff to fill, not just sailing on the ocean for 10 minutes, plenty of action and stuff, ability to explore.

I just gotta get used to this being "greedy" thing I guess

Indeed, and a horse loaded up with loot should be SIGNIFICANTLY slower than one without. I would say as well I agree with some of the suggestions here. I have some suggestions to alter them a bit though. In regards to not being able to go faster than a trot on your mount in towns I like this, but I don't think it should be a hard coded rule, I think it should be illegal in game, have guards throw you in jail if you gallop through a crowded city center. I also agree completely that flying mounts just basically remove 90% of the game for those flying them, so as I believe the devs have already started, only one player should get one per node, the champion. I LOVE the idea of ships, like, wow,v that's awesome. Just like the caravan system though I would want to be able to attack and capture other players trading ships, and other players war ships as well, and me marked for bounty like in the rest of the game. I think the bounty system is great. You can attack anyone, but you'll also be attackable by everyone. Going out on your own to just grief low level players would be stupid as everyone would kill you, but you could start a guild of bandits, strength in numbers. But sounds awesome.

Also, I like some of the interesting mount concept art, but please for goodness sake, make most mounts guess, I don't personally want to see everyone riding round on immersion breaking glitter monsters.
  • I'm hoping the breeding is going to be able to bring interesting mounts with different stats.  Stables to sell your specially bred mounts would be real nice also. All and all it seems Intrepid is going to give us  one heck of a ride!
  • I'd rather pets, not mounts
  • I'd rather pets, not mounts
Ya but both would be nice.  Maybe we could have a pet that rides with us on our mounts. They must  get super tired running along side! lol
  • I want a pet hawk that leaves a trail of frost behind it. Another skin? How much? Take my money!
  • Everything about it I already like!
Don't kill my mount. That's mean. My mount is my friend.
  • for the love of every god that exists, please no flying mounts

give me a black panther and I'm good
  • There will be a limited amount of flying mounts (dragons) for those that become the kings and queens.  All other "flying mounts" like the dawnbreaker mount will hover and glide.

  • On discord Q&A he stated that there would be mounted combat similar to Archeage, so hopefully he clarifies on this in the stream :pensive:
  • Hmm I'm remembering this from a Stream, so I'll have to think on this.

Mounts. Is there going to be mounted combat? Can mounts be killed?

    1. Mounts can be killed
    2. Mounts will have abilities that some mounts will have. Some might have combat applications.
    3. Won’t be able to use class skills while mounted.

  • I want a giant rabbit mount. I likes Ashes take on rabbit like creatures. I think that is how my rabbit sees himself.
  • I just want to see what type of hybrids people will be able to breed!
  • I wouldn't mind a War Chariot... with bladed wheels etc.

Steven also stated the following on Discord Q&A
1:11:40 Will there be mounted combat?
    Steven:
There will be certain combats you can participate in with mounts yes, certain combat maneuvers. They will be more localized to the type of mount not your class. Similar to ArcheAge.

I don't think these two things are contradictory.

They aren't, there will be mounted combat and the abilities will be linked to the mount and not the class ability.

Just pointing it out to @T-Elf.
  • I wouldn't mind a War Chariot... with bladed wheels etc.
Or War Elephants with bladed tusks.
  • To me it would make sense if more "nature oriented" class types had better access to nature type mounts. Or maybe that could go all around really. Like a hunter could ride a bear but a Mage would be like nope.. but check out this sweet hover disc. A few like Horses and Camels could be universal etc.
  • I would like to see significant visual differences reflected in a mounts' various main attributes, should they have one.

    Speed mounts
    • starting speed,
    • medium,
    • fast
    • stealth?
    Capacity
    • starting load,
    • medium load,
    • heavy load,
    • very heavy
    Armor
    • Light,
    • medium,
    • heavy,
    Cosmetic
    • Clan banner (blanket?)
    • Dying armor
    Animation
    • Walk
    • Trot
    • Run
    • Stagger/ walk with lame leg(s) (injured pve/pvp)
    • An array of animations so that when players are grouped together and static, they show some kind of variance. Be that variance in movements, variance between liking/disliking other mounts or animations.

  • The some of the visual difference ideas will probably be messed up by mount skins though.
