  • Exploring into the depths of the world on low level character and see how far I can get before I die or can't go on any more.

Haha this ^, ""ohh whats this a giant hole in the ground"" jumps down the cliff
  • I love exploration and I am abit of a completionist when it comes to PvE content.

I didn't say I'd explore blindly. It takes effort and caution to get across the worlds.   :)
  • My favorite thing is helping newbies out.

There's something about making sure a new player gets the right advice and a good step forward in the game that makes the day better for me :)

That is something I just can't do... Helping out a few noobs, sure. But helping out a lot of noobs with the same questions over and over again, no thanks. I'd rather watch Trump using fidget spinners 24 hours straight.

I'd pay him to do that all day.....
  • I like to do it all, explore, gather, PvP, PvE, both small and large scale, become the best crafter I can be. Deep down there beats the heart of a crafter, I like to be that person who can craft anything and everything and have the mats on hand to do so. I know this will no be so easily done in AOC but that is what alts are for.
I also enjoy being part of a guild, that go to person when something is needed either gear or help. Just like to be part of a strong community forge alliances and make enemies, and just have fun doing it all.
  • I'll be crafting! (animal husbandry)  Sounds like there is so much to it, taming the animals, breeding, and training/leveling (maybe?).  So I expect to be doing a lot of exploring looking for new or rare tames.

    Oh, and fishing!
  • I just like building my name and starting a guild that people will know of

Oh we're all sure they will know the famous bone man!

Then my job here is done

Yes to all those and fishing!
I hope they'll have a system in place to make fishing interesting (besides just seasons).

    P.S.
LOVE your Ragnarok Online sig. <3
  • My favorite thing to do in MMORPG's is to immediately /server or /region chat and start the "Alienware Best Computer NA" firestorm.  B) I'm just kidding. Don't flame me.

Even though I'm a hardened PvPer, I ALWAYS make an effort to explore the content for the first time and dissect and study all the implemented systems (crafting, combat, gathering, etc, etc.) Typically after I've done that my attention span shrivels to nothing, and I afford my soul to PvP. But maybe that'll change with AoC!
  • Hangout with friends and do stuf.
  • doing match making dungeons and though that meeting new people

    @Mandii
Explore and take tons and tons of pics.
Finally started streaming gameplay last year with NMS.

Hoping for lots of RP vids with Ashes.
And vids chronicling how the worlds of Ashes are evolving.

For Landmark, Legendary Neurotoxin had a vid series called Castles and Crapshacks.
We will have to bring that back for Ashes.   :p
  • For me, I'd say it's coordinating people in group activities like raids or battlegrounds. This is not the cat-herding aspect of those jobs!.. I'd be happy to leave those aspects aside as I deal with them daily as a teacher.  B)
  • @Mandii;

Sorry, this'll be a long post lol. No need to read it. I'll just post for my own nostalgia.

I think my greatest enjoyment is tackling challenges with other players. This could mean friends and guildies but it could also mean random people joining me for area events, elite monsters, world bosses, etc.

On day one of GW2's release, I remember being in the starting area for humans, Queensdale, with tons of other players and coming across the NPC Lodgemaster Carthage:

Lodgemaster Carthage: Y'hear that? The sound of the giant boar?
Emi: Huntin' time. Hear it, track it slay it.
Lodgemaster Carthage: Easy there. Many hunters just like you have died to the giant boar. We will not attempt the hunt until others arrive to help.
Emi: Bah! All we do is wait!

I talk to the Lodgemaster while my friends cleared random mobs nearby the lodge.

Lodgemaster Carthage: Come along now. Help has arrived; the hunt is on.

I was expecting some scrub boar to show up but instead we run into this boar on steroids. The group event notification pops up on nearby players' screens and they come streaming in to help take down the champion boar.

That feeling was exhilarating. The world felt alive.

Sadly, it didn't last forever. After a while, there was information out there on the timers of bosses, so my friends and I ended up just using quick travel to do champion slaying runs for money and item farming. The boar that was once awe inspiring had become just one part of a routine run. And, later, I believe the boar was nerfed.

Anyway, I hope that Intrepid succeeds in making Ashes a truly living world but I digress.

Basically, I like all activities in MMOs except for excessive grinding and crafting systems that are done poorly. I enjoy exploration, challenges, puzzles, and so forth. But, I'll enjoy the sense of community and achieving things with comrades the most. Sorry, it's a sneaky way of fitting all the things to do under one umbrella.
  • PVP with a small organized group of skilled players. Its always nice to carve your way through the battlefield like a well-oiled machine.
  • Crafting / farming mats / economy / solo content. Def my fav things in any mmo. Hopefully this game will deliver and I can focus on all of those and have a blast!
Meaning hopefully there is some leaderboard for those who excel in crafting for example. Like BDO had. Nothing quite like a marking on top of your head saying you are the best in profession you chose.
  • The best thing about the genre are the possibilities the community has for good. Nothing makes my day more than messing around in-game, whether that be PvE/PvP/Crafting etc. , while on voice chat with friends. The banter, the help and the sharing of experiences (good and bad) are the heart of what makes MMO's fun to play.

Hm. Things I love to do in MMOs:

    • Communiti-ize (kinda socialize, but on a broader scale  )
    • Roll character, begin development
    • Reroll character, alter development
    • Reroll character, alter development (I'll stop now, but imagine about a dozen rinse/repeats of this step)
    • Explore the world
    • Explore crafting
    • Hawk wares
    • Engage in group activities, whether those are roleplay events, dungeons, raids, etc
Please note that the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th steps are apt to be repeated in meaningless variations many, many times, lol.

I think my actual characters' development may be the most fun part to me. It lets each voice have her own face, so to speak ;-)

  • I like following immersive quest lines but I also like killing stuff and looting the bodies.

I've never been a major crafter but, for whatever reason, I end up maxing out fishing........  Cooking buff foods is fun.

Visiting in-game, Monty Python style brothels is great too.....
  • I love to craft and PvP. I am really looking forward to castle sieges, node wars, caravans and guild wars.
  • I love crafting, but I think the biggest thing for me in a game is the ability to discover and explore, also a really strong compelling lore is a big deal for me.
  • Exploring into the depths of the world on low level character and see how far I can get before I die or can't go on any more.
lel, I used to do this a lot, just I did this with my main so I had to eventually stop because it took me ages to go back to a safe spot xD
  • Crafting/gathering
    Raiding (with guild)
    Questing/Exploring

    (in that order)
