There's something about making sure a new player gets the right advice and a good step forward in the game that makes the day better for me
I also enjoy being part of a guild, that go to person when something is needed either gear or help. Just like to be part of a strong community forge alliances and make enemies, and just have fun doing it all.
Oh, and fishing!
I hope they'll have a system in place to make fishing interesting (besides just seasons).
P.S.
LOVE your Ragnarok Online sig.
Even though I'm a hardened PvPer, I ALWAYS make an effort to explore the content for the first time and dissect and study all the implemented systems (crafting, combat, gathering, etc, etc.) Typically after I've done that my attention span shrivels to nothing, and I afford my soul to PvP. But maybe that'll change with AoC!
Explore and take tons and tons of pics.
Finally started streaming gameplay last year with NMS.
Hoping for lots of RP vids with Ashes.
And vids chronicling how the worlds of Ashes are evolving.
For Landmark, Legendary Neurotoxin had a vid series called Castles and Crapshacks.
We will have to bring that back for Ashes.
Sorry, this'll be a long post lol. No need to read it. I'll just post for my own nostalgia.
I think my greatest enjoyment is tackling challenges with other players. This could mean friends and guildies but it could also mean random people joining me for area events, elite monsters, world bosses, etc.
On day one of GW2's release, I remember being in the starting area for humans, Queensdale, with tons of other players and coming across the NPC Lodgemaster Carthage:
I was expecting some scrub boar to show up but instead we run into this boar on steroids. The group event notification pops up on nearby players' screens and they come streaming in to help take down the champion boar.
That feeling was exhilarating. The world felt alive.
Sadly, it didn't last forever. After a while, there was information out there on the timers of bosses, so my friends and I ended up just using quick travel to do champion slaying runs for money and item farming. The boar that was once awe inspiring had become just one part of a routine run. And, later, I believe the boar was nerfed.
Anyway, I hope that Intrepid succeeds in making Ashes a truly living world but I digress.
Basically, I like all activities in MMOs except for excessive grinding and crafting systems that are done poorly. I enjoy exploration, challenges, puzzles, and so forth. But, I'll enjoy the sense of community and achieving things with comrades the most. Sorry, it's a sneaky way of fitting all the things to do under one umbrella.
Meaning hopefully there is some leaderboard for those who excel in crafting for example. Like BDO had. Nothing quite like a marking on top of your head saying you are the best in profession you chose.
- Communiti-ize (kinda socialize, but on a broader scale )
- Roll character, begin development
- Reroll character, alter development
- Reroll character, alter development (I'll stop now, but imagine about a dozen rinse/repeats of this step)
- Explore the world
- Explore crafting
- Hawk wares
- Engage in group activities, whether those are roleplay events, dungeons, raids, etc
Please note that the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th steps are apt to be repeated in meaningless variations many, many times, lol.I think my actual characters' development may be the most fun part to me. It lets each voice have her own face, so to speak ;-)
I've never been a major crafter but, for whatever reason, I end up maxing out fishing........ Cooking buff foods is fun.
Visiting in-game, Monty Python style brothels is great too.....
Raiding (with guild)
Questing/Exploring
(in that order)
