Multiple servers ? or mega servers?

Hey guys, sorry if this is a silly question but I missed a lot of live streams. I do remember hearing devs say that servers will be very different from one another but I want to know the server structure planned by devs.
Are we going to essentially just have channels within one mega server? or are we gonna have smaller and a whole bunch of servers like WoW? and what about inter-server traveling / visiting friends on other servers?
And lastly, what's the expected population on a server? :D i personally prefer smaller servers with lower population, i like peace and to get to know people on the server.

I believe there will be multiple servers rather than a megaserver. I'm not entirely sure but someone will probably drop by with the right answer in a bit.

Don't think there's a specifically concrete design (yet), but I believe there will be regional servers.  Plus, with the ability of servers to 'develop' differently, why in the world would they do mega-servers?

There will be multiple servers - all with the same rulesets.

Each world will have the same geography - but will evolve differently based on how the players on each world interact with the nodes.

We can have a character on multiple worlds, but we won't be able to freely server hop one character to travel to multiple worlds (like Landmark).
We will have to transfer the character(s) we wish to another server, more like WoW.

Can't say it better than that :)

I see, sounds good. Thanks a lot for the detailed answer. Sounds pretty good and also exciting :O gives us a reason to have multiple characters on multiple servers I think. I plan on having a character on at least 3 servers to see the different progressions and stuff. Would be cool

Thanks to everyone else as well :D

yeah, that's the main thing about Mega Servers, it always looks full and busy. I love logging in on GW2 in one of the capital cities and just seeing a bunch of players, makes the game feel really alive to me.

The devs have mentioned many times that they love the idea of each server being able to have different experiences/progression based on the choices of the populaton. A Mega server would go against this for the most part. as I believe they also don't want there to be channels.

A good way to look at this, would be to change the wording of this topic up a bit. Perhaps, to a subject that is a bit "dirtier."
Multiple it is. As a "mega" one may just give me a heart attack.
