To say "Yes" would be a gross understatement.  @Isende and I love dyes and gear customization.  @Isende is hoping she'll be able to craft dyes in Ashes.
  • Truth be told, I am!

I'm not gonna lie to ya....  I love customizing a signature look for my characters.
I know that no one else out there probably cares what my characters look like other than myself, but I enjoy playing virtual "dress up."  ;)

I guess I shouldn't say "no one,"  because I do enjoy looking at what others do with their characters in games...
  • I DONT CARE ABOUT COSMETICS I JUST WANT TO KILL THINGS
  • honestly one thing i do notice is when someone does customize their character ill stop and have a little look.
I think its a great part of games.

I wonder how much effort they will put into the cosmetic side of the game especially with how many people love designing their characters especially the females. :)

I always quote Billy Crystal's character Fernando, from the old SNL skit, "Fernando's Hideaway"...  "Remember darling, it's better to look good than to feel good."  :)

I've always felt that if I like the way my character looks and it makes me happy,  I enjoy playing it more.  And if I enjoy playing it more, I'm better at it.  So, looking good = better gameplay.
  • Costumes and dyes are not that exciting for me. I am more concerned with what bonuses and the strength that my armor is giving me than what it looks like. It is however nice to look good so dyes would be nice. Although I cant say that I have ever used them myself.
  • Yeah, the more customization the better. Being a porky Dwarf, I can't wait to be in black. It's always good to be able to recognise a player by looking at his/her character rather than nameplate.
  • exactly xD thats what i love if you can recognise someone because of something particular that character wears its great fun
  • Customization in games is one of the most important things to me, as silly as it might sound. This is especially the case in games that are graphically advanced, which Ashes definitely seems to be! I just cannot wait to mess about with everything from character creation to finding all the different costumes I can get through achievements. Dyes are also cool, really looking forwards to see what colours the Kickstarter dyes will be

I usually play with my fiance and he most definitely is not as interested in the cosmetics like I am, so he always ends up sighing and waiting until I'm done and will finally join him killing stuff haha.

I take a fair amount of time in character creation.  Although I'm not as bad as @Isende.  And if hers isn't just the way she likes it when she enters the game, or if at some point down the road she notices something she doesn't like... DELETE & RE-ROLL!  I'm always stunned when she deletes a max level character because something in the appearance is annoying her.  I hope for the sake of her characters they give us the ability to fine tune things after creation.  lol
  • Besides character creation this is a big second for me as far as making the character mine.  In DAoC I was #2 Alchemist for my server and dyes were so much fun.  GW2 was great for collecting colors and changing up as the mood suited me.  Now, at least I will start out with the Kickstarter pallet, and I find this very exciting.

This is exactly why I was so pleased when Steven indicated that IS would look into releasing the CC before launch.
  • Yay, I can see it now, a 6'6" male warrior shows up to the group wearing a Japanese school girl uniform.

I hope the CC is in before launch as well, when there are a lot of options for character creation, I can spend at least an hour on creation alone, then I have to get my daughters approval, of course.  So sometimes it can take longer.
  • yeah i think on average i spend 45 mins per character creation lol it just feels like the right thing to do

Im hoping we dont have school girl uniforms in this game. That being said I do want my female cleric to have something somewhat sexy to wear without looking like either a macho man in hulking armor OR a hooker on the street corner.

I believe the devs have commented that the armor would be appropriate to the fantasy setting in which we're playing.  You won't see anything that looks like some of the crap sold in the Black Desert Online cash shop.
  • Words cannot express how much I'm looking forward to this. Haha.

I'm also looking forward to see what hard to obtain cosmetics will be available in the game. Special outfits and dyes from achievements, game progression etc.
  • I'm into a bit of costumery but I hope it doesn't get too "tacky" for want of a better word. I'd hate to walk down the village square and see a parade of bikini wearing orcs shambling around ... no offence @Umji ;)

    NO WORRY LEXMAX

IF FIRST PLACE BIKINI FIT ORC

    THEN ORC NOT REAL ORC~
  • Umji you look beautiful just the way you are <3
  • All my characters have "theme's". So some alts are part of Main roleplay story.
It also develops ingame , based on what is avaible and what i can achieve lol.

So yes colors and altering colors is a big part as are different themed clothing.
But you will not see me walking in a butler suit with modern glasses on my nose.....
  • I like to do RP, so yes I´m always interested in costumes.
  • yeah i hope everyone can look a bit different so not just seeing the same armour and colours all the time

Yes I got swept up, not just in her large overpowering arms but also in her beautiful grace!

What the bonsai master does to the bonsai tree, distilling it down to it's purist and most pristine essence.... @Umji does with words using the artistry of a poet.

She truly is a treasure to the Ashes community!

(And I must confess, almost every post I see of hers makes me laugh out loud.)
  • Its important to look good when you slay your first dragon.
  • I'm excited that dyes are consumables... (and hopefully craftable, not cash-shop!)

It would add a lot to the merchant system if you were one of the only folks on the server to be able to offer shirts it Sandal Blue because you located a source of the rare herb needed to get that unique hue! :)

  • I believe that there will be dyes on the cashshop; but I think they also said some will be craftable.  There is hope.
