Comments
1. potion of water breathing -- (obvious what it does)
2. levitating potion -- (makes your character able to glide after jumping for short period of time)
3. potion of frozen earth -- (you throw potion bottle at certain area, it explodes freezing earth below it, anyone moving through the area now has ice slippery movement, sliding drifting and being lead by movement inertia)
4. potion of camouflage -- (turns you to bush for short amount of time)
5. potion of inverted sight -- (for sort amount of time makes invisible enemies visible to you, BUT makes visible enemies invisible for the duration)
6. potion of chaotic space time -- (for short amount of time teleports you randomly around, teleport occurs each 2 seconds and each time 20 yards in random direction from where you were, you can not cancel it or control it)
7. potion of risk vs reward -- (for moderate amount of time you are allowed to carry more than your maximum capacity, but you are flagged for PvP for the duration, if potion expires before you reach your secondary storage, your overflow inventory is dropped near you in extra bag, ready to pick up by someone else or by you if you meet carrying conditions again, get rid of other cargo, or drink another potion to renew the buff)
The potion of frozen earth sounds fun!
It should also accelerate you downwards on inclined surfaces
This can allow for outplay in PVP since you came prepared. It also will make potions and alchemy needed in the world rather than just an after thought. I also like the idea of pots increasing your stats for a few minutes, would be awesome for Alchemists income if it was needed for raids etc.
Would be nice to see a whole range of potions that can be used out side of combat, that may have longer durations, and would allow you to overcome obstacles. Would be nice to see alchemy used for more than just healing potions.
10. potion of lucky noob -- (makes 50% of your attacks miss their targets, but increases your chance for good drops by certain percent, you can not activate this potion when already in combat)
11. potion of bear love -- (summons a horny bear that follows you around, humping you on occasion stunning you for 3 seconds each time, but also defending you from attackers in same time)
12. potion of RP master -- (your character starts to skillfully RP (predefined lines of text) but also gets flagged for PvP for the duration, also while performance lasts there is a chance that train of kobolds come at you)
13. potion of holy sandal -- (your shoes transform to sandals increasing your running speed by 30%, mobs do not aggro on you unless you attack them first, and 3 NPC protectors, Jeff, Peter and Bacon are spawned to aid you in combat, this potion has no side effects, except for when it's duration ends, Jeff, Peter and Bacon gang up on you, kill you and take some of your loot)
Crafting potions and gathering the supplies for it always feels so satisfying when you craft the glowing super nice looking flask or potion
Hope it will be to here.
For use it can be everything from boring buffs to visual effects.
So as long as alchemy is going to be a thing, I want it to be more than just "yeah that job makes the health and mana potions". It should have relevance and in my opinion, looking at the rough strokes laid out for us concerning crafting and durability I hope it will be more than just that.
There are especially 2 things that I would like to see.
1. As was said somewhere above already. Limited in fight use. Maybe 1 or 2 potion slots (at most) you can customize with potions YOU want to have at hand. Be it health potion, damage boost potion, "make a fog appear"-potion, or whatnot. I really like that idea with it being represented on the belt, so obviously you only have so much space for them to use.
2. Out of fight potion use. That's where I want to see most potion play happen. Are you prepared for this fight? Did you bring your resistance potion? Smear some stinking lure potion on your tank to help draw aggro and vice versa?
That goes hand in hand what I think was already mentioned?, that potions come with downsides too. So some potion lore will help you draw a good combination lineup for your everyday and special case use.
Something I would find fun would be actual play with your bag. Like some crisis started to form because your group woke up some electricity throwing salamander in a water temple with lots of puddles everywhere. So you "take a break" from the fight, put down your backpack and switch your potions to one that produces an electricity repelling fog/ a instantly dry out your dungeon floor- sponsored by your friendly alchemy neighbor. You could actually play to be a potion master.
Just some fancy fantasy I don't see happening tho.
Do keep this in mind. Even i seen this happen before.
Thx @Wizard_Beard
This might make alchemy rather a narrow profession, but there are other things that can be done I guess like transmuting etc.
I honestly do not want a bag full of potions either but I would like to see some utility rather than just healing and mana potions.
They could maybe give some sort of buff for a period of time. Varying by quality but not to exceed a reasonable limit.
Potion to allow you to breath underwater for a period of time would help with underwater exploration.
Potions that allow you to endure certain environments could be nice as well, when environments effect game play.
Happy potions that make you drunk and alter what you see would be fun
After drinking a Language Potion:
( i would say ... " Meta " ... but i don't want that word to exist tbh ).
Even if the Potions are used for Attacking, Mezzing, or any other kind of Shenanigans - there must a limit/ cooldown at least to prevent such things from getting out of hand.
Only exception is RP-Potions ... unlimited please : 3
EDIT: And maybe others i have not mentioned
