What would you do in this in-game situation?

You are walking along and you see 2 players a bit off your path. One seems to be pleading for his life while the other goes on about revenge. They have not started fighting yet so you still have time to make your mind up. What do you do?

  • I would help the defender, whomever he is.

  • One seems to be pleading for his life while the other goes on about revenge.
I guess the keyword for me is "seems". I'd probably hang around and assess the situation and decide if I'd step in or not. If the situation is too uncertain, I'd probably just keep on walking.

@lexmax I chose "seems" as there is a chance they could be putting on a show to bait people towards them but at the same time it could be a genuine attack, like it would be a good way for bandits to get people off the main road by appealing to their sense of justice.
  • It would be interesting and fun to watch a fight. Preferably from a safe distance though, in case of a trap or if you're accidentally hit. They obviously have a history between them (unless they are bandits) that needs resolving between themselves so why intervene?
  • @FraxinusExcelsior Don't forget to grab the popcorn!
  • Sweet or salty?

  • @FraxinusExcelsior Both so if others join you can offer them some as well XD
  • Just two people fighting, nothing to see here.
  • @Arkanth Places do go, people to see, quests to complete
  • Why do so many people want to help?

  • @FraxinusExcelsior They have a sense of justice, they see someone who doesn't want to fight being forced to fight and they want to help. Also it's cool to interact with other players like that as most of the time, situations like that are scripted/npc's.
  • I would get  as close as I can undetected, wait to see if they really are about to fight. If it does, as late as possible I will come out and try to get information about the situation. From there I would either take a side or if they contradict each other, I will be on my way.

I'm with @lexmax on this one.
  • I'd wait for the attacker to start brawling so they fight each other.. then I'll kill the victor who would have lower HP from his scrap and take the loot from both.
  • @Flameh0t I KNEW someone like you would show up XD
It is still a fair decision, best risk vs reward.

My character, tho concerned by the possibility of a trap, would walk away, unconcerned by the squabbles of peasants. Maybe he would walk fast, just to be sure.

    @BaddiNaddi
    Yeah cos it's tactical lol
In this scenario, he's on his knees cos someone's cos someone wants revenge, he obviously did wrong by someone at some point, so fuck him he can die.. then old mate getting revenge, let him have it.. but the guy on his knees wouldn't lose his life without a fight and inflicting as much damage as he can before he snuffs it.. so who ever is the victor isn't getting away unscathed..
Which means easy pickins for free loot.. Let them do all the hard work and kill each other xD
  • I'm easily distracted by this kind of thing, so I'll just watch how it goes and if it bores me I'll leave? Although I might fire some spells left and right before leaving xD
  • Kill them both.

I thought about this too, but 1v2 on the surface can quickly become a 1v10 if it's a trap xD
  • @AeonAuron That is also another option, just pray your level is high enough XD
  • Chances are the PKer will turn on you when he has finished so best to get out of the way fast.
  • @Relwoh RUN FOREST RUN!
  • Wait for him to kill the defendant. Then surprise attack and kill him. Loot them both. Go along my merry way.
  • You see a fight but I see a business opportunity. $$
  • run in. kill them both. when they ask why. just say idk. then proceed to loot their corpses.

    I have to agree.
    Been there, done that.
  • This is a good social experiment so hats off to you @BaddiNaddi .

This is where the flag pvp/ red pk system is great for players like me. If the person pleading does not want to fight the attacker will go red, but if both parties fight they will only flag.

I see it this way. You'll never have all the facts. You (me in this situation) will have to weigh if you will assume any consequence from either side.

    Situation:
In the event it is a PK I would drop the pk'r, collect the loot/gold/etc and then I can figure out if I will give it back after the fact.

    Consequence:
Just made an enemy and that may be long term or short term.

    Situation:
Both flag. Was a fair fight, and will play as a referee of sorts. If others try to interfere, warn them that this is between the two individuals and attack any interferers. As a pvp player I look forward the the randoms that try to get a free kill.

    Consequence:
Risk getting lumped in with the either party, or getting dropped by another random that happens to see 2 flagged players (or 1, the victor)

  • @MrWaffles Thanks!
There are a lot of other possibilities. If they were faking it and had others waiting for you, then you stepping in would possibly lead to a death.
It's also interesting to see how each person would react to the situation. Whether it is to be a hero, take advantage of the situation, watch it or ignore it. So many responses/way to act!
  • Also I love how many people would just watch it as if it's a really messed up sport XD
