Naming Characters

  • This is always a struggle for me but it also depends on how the game chooses to display it. Some games prominently feature your account name everywhere, and others I've seen bury it pretty deep.
Thanks for passing the word along about the optional first name @lexmax. That relieves me a bit. I hate when I'm forced to have a first and last name.
  • NO, it's optional last name.

@PlagueMonk Is this what you mean by a Great Horned Rat? Cause gosh it is adorable!!  LONG LIVE THE GREAT HORNED RAT!

AHHHH, what is that vile thing?! /Taking damage from cuteness factor

QUEEK! Must summon the Great horned rat to purge this thread of its toxic cuteness before I pass out.

That's better. "My lord go forth and cast down all the unbelievers who would desecrate your form with their rainbow beasts!" >:)

What's wrong with just using a character name generator?
    Random for the win!!!
  • I have a couple names that I sometimes work into a game but mostly I try and think of things on the fly. I have general ideas of how racial type names sound and sometimes even google traditional names and just sound it out from there. Elves will be flowing and Galadriel type names, Humans while not Steve may be something like Darvel or the like. Tulnar type characters will probably be more guttural like Jektharn or Ktarg.
  • I have two names planned, one of which is the same name I use in the forums :)

Howdy all!  I am trying to figure out what I might call my main character in the game.  Previously I have used a naming plan for all my characters (not always the same but all my characters might have started with the same letter or have a name that translates into something which I find cool.)

Do any of you out there have any weird and wonderful naming conventions you use for creating characters?

Have you considered something Celtic? A lot of great sites out there listing traditional names, such as https://www.behindthename.com/names/usage/ancient-celtic
