  • I'm sick of consoles. They're half-assed, overpriced, poorly supported and ultimately more expensive than a competitive gaming PC (if you build it yourself). There are a lot more game available for PC through platforms like Steam and Origin.

When my Pc  was starting show it's age, I switched to consoles. I agree that Pc is by far the goto for gaming. Which is why I am in the process of building myself a new one

    https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Stereo72/saved/#view=xMPdCJ

But it won't stop me from getting the Xbox one x. The inclusion of an ultraHD Blue ray drive is a big plus. Although streaming 4K is ok, nothing beats watching a movie on Ultra HD blue ray. I'm still old school and like having my physical copy.

  • I've been with PlayStation with the first so yeah PS4 pro for me :3 With Death Stranding coming out at some point *_* but ofc PC = master race xD
  • PC is the best. You can custom build it and games are less expensive to buy
  • Usually don't get into this, but Microsoft has been releasing new consoles every damn year and I just can't support that trend. Hell the Xbox One S already does 4k, so why release another damn 4k console a year later that is double the price. But mainly a PC guy so huzzah.

Had to choose PS4 because that is where I will be playing Monster Hunter World until it releases for the PC.
  • Most gaming PCs I see for sale are at least 2x the cost of PS4 Pro or XBox One X.
I would just get a PS4 Pro if Dual Universe and Ashes released on that platform.

that, and you can make a computer double what a ps4 could do for the same price. not to mention(ill use a basic game for example.) games like minecraft have very limited playing fields. or just lag like a bitch while still being a low resource game.(7days to die.)

anything prebuilt will be more expensive and probably not as good as something you made yourself. unless your buying a premade computer with ALL the latest parts. but even then you probably coulda made it and gotten the parts separate for cheaper.
  • @Dygz you realize that after you buy your 300-400$ console, you have to buy a 60$ controller, a tv that supports the graphic level you want, 60$ per game (most unfinished on release), pay for DLC (optional, sure), and then your old games don't work on the new console.

I still play 1995 Total annihilation on my PC.
  • I need to buy a new PS4 controller just for 4K graphics?
Why would I have to spend $60 for a game I have already backed via KS?

    @NoeSparks
Assuming I'm any good at building a gaming machine.
    Which I haven't done in 15+ years.

  • Once they perfect the PC i would rather they stick with making more content for that platform then worry about porting it.  If it is just turning out cash for Intrepid and they can hire another team to port and not hurt the PC version of constant content then they can port it to anything they wish.
  • @Dygz reread what I posted. I'm talking about choosing between console and PC. It assumes you had neither
  • But, why would assume that???

I'm trying to be informative and explain to you why PC is the optimal choice. When one buys a console, they have to buy all the accessories and then each game you buy is full priced 60$. On top of that, you are stuck with some ok exclusives and a handful of games that aren't. You are also limited to what the developers want you to have. Compare PC skyrim (with mods) vs console skyrim with mods. Due to rights, they will never be allowed to come close to PC because SKSE can't be ported to console.

Steam has special deals on games all the time and often on popular, recent games. Consoles are hit and miss and require you to go to a store or pay for rental. If we really want to pick this apart, I can show you figures that express just how overpriced console gaming is for the limits they have.

Not to mention, you can always trade parts and upgrade a PC. Unless you're a technical genius with both hardware and software, you can't do the same for console. I've been where you are. I was very much into console gaming for a long time but advances in technology gave PC a huge advantage to console gaming. (I do own PS1 thru PS4, a 3DS and a PSVita) I gave them a chance. They collect dust now except when I feel like being nostalgic with my Baldur's Gate DA1 and Champions: Return to Arms games.

EDIT: @Dygz I get that I wrote in response to you, but I also wrote this to be informative for other readers. Not just you.
  • Consoles suck, I have an xbox one, bought it when it came out, and it was a year an a half before I used it, and I haven't used it since, and it's been over a year since I used my PS4.  they just collect dust
  • I still want to play Nioh though. Bought it 3months ago and still haven't setup my PS4 again lol

    @IThrowSexyParties
    Optimal choice is subjective.
Since when do consoles require you to go to a store or pay for rental?

I play on PS4 and PC.
I generally prefer playing on PS4, when games are offered on PS4.
The games I play on PS4 are same price as on Steam or KS.

Ok true, you can buy on amazon. Sorry @Dygz.
Im not going to try and argue this further. By all means, enjoy your PS4. I guess I've been poisoned by modding communities. :/

and by poisoned, I really mean enlightened.
  • No worries.
Like I said, I haven't built my own rig in over 15 years, so I dunno about the pricing on that compared to buying a PS4.
Buying a PS4 is just easier and cheaper than buying a pre-built gaming PC.
And I don't have to worry about screwing something up.

PC-wise, I'd prefer to have an all-in-one or something as small as a PS4.
I don't always need to have the highest quality graphics - just enough for the game to play.
If DU and Ashes were playable on PS4 Pro, I would upgrade to Pro.

I don't think they will be, so, I should probably check into building a PC before buying a new one... if it's really cheaper than a PS4.
  • It's funny, you know ...
The better consoles get, the more like PC's they are!
    Hmmmm.

No you'd have to subscribe to PS+ and Ashes monthly to play it. A TV depends if you want to play it in 4K or not (if not just use your 1080p TV). But that's if they make a console port which I doubt.

I'd still play it on PC (if they did made one) because you can get a vastly more powerful machine for maybe $200 more. Worth it for me, because I don't have to pay the PS+ subscription and Steam usually have cheaper games. I do own a PS4 though for the exclusives games, but I still prefer PC.

    I doubt it.
I don't have to do so for other games I play, like NMS and Fortnite.
I should have lifetime for Ashes.

Destiny required it and it's the closest game to a MMO that I've played on the PS4.
  • Ah. PS3 multiplayer is free.
PS4 multiplayer is $50 per year.
Which is not too bad if you're buying game time via Early Access packages.
  • Ok so, my son has a PS4  in the only multiplayer games I have seen him play there were not many people involved. 4 to a party.  How many does a game actually accommodate?  Surely not large raid parties.

I won't go into the expense my custom built machine cost but it wasn't cheap by any means 3 yrs. ago.

On the other hand I helped my son's friend buy a lap top for around $700 that he was able to play ESO and Rift without any difficulty.

Price is subjective depending on what she think you need.  Not everyone needs the high end systems.

  • NIN

    DO
    SWIIIIITCH!

10 days... it's back in stock in 10 days...
Splatoon 2 here I come!
  • I'd say PC..
I built myself a new PC a week after buying an Xbox one S cos I got sick of its issues.
Unless Xbox one X's are absolutely flawless, stick with PC. Check for issues in reviews first before buying either.

(PS4 pro, not even an option cos all PS controllers feel like shit to hold lol)
  • i feel like ps and xbox used to be good......but, yeah idk anymore.
  • @Dygz your knowledge is too great for you not to be apart of the PC master race.  Click the button for PC!!!   :):):)

    PS.  DO IT!!!
  • Just do it!  :p
