IS UNDERREALM RACE IMMUNUE TO CORRUPTION?!

So corruption... It was mentioned many times usually on live streams while they were answering questions but they never really told us too much about it, but have you ever thought of why did everyone leave and the under realm race did not? I mean it in the way they were probably trying to get away from the corruption because (I think) corruption can get ANYONE. But wait...the Underrealm race survived the corruption and stayed there...how?.....I thing it would take control of them?.....Will they be immune to corruption in-game?....Could be. I just don't get how they still survived I get the thing they went underground but that only protected them from the attackers the corruption itself. Tell me in the comments what you think I am interested what are you peoples opinions.

  • They may have a resistance to corruption magic, but they will not be immune. Just like after a nuclear holocaust, the survivors underground are not immune to radiation, but they may gain resistance. If you are looking for a reason for player characters to be able to PK without penalty, nice try. I imagine the lore to be that groups of a reptile race and mammals fled deep underground, cross-bred over time (however that worked), and now that the gods have come back are working their way back to the surface that was promised to them as they scrabbled around in the underrealm hiding from the devastation above.

    I like you.
  • It could also be possible that their forms themselves are a result of the last affects of corruption. Kind of like how Sméagol became Gollum after being under the weight of the One Ring so long. Perhaps they began as some deviation of a surface race and as corruption gained a foothold in the World it began to twist and mold their current body construct =)

Yeah and by that they became the corruption but still have their own mind but when they are the corruption it wont try to kill you. MINDBLOWN!!!
  • I think the Tulnar are corrupted - to an extent. We know they are a mutation/in bred race of what was left behind in the world when the gates shut. They fled to the Underrealm because it was the safest place to be. I think whatever caused the calamity "upstairs" is bringing out the corruption in everything and turning them into dark creatures, followers of this corruption bringer.
They must have built up some resistance to corruption. Perhaps a god has helped stop their rate of being corrupted.
I think of what we know from Monster Coins and the Corruption system is that in the Ashes world corruption is already in us to an extent - and events of the world cause us to corrupt more.
Perhaps faith in certain gods etc helps to keep our corruption at bay.

I dunno I'm getting carried away xD

    I am lost.
  • We don't know if the corruption is current. It may be that the world was corrupt at some point and it no longer exists but we see the remnants of it.

Underrealm race = Tulnar. Imo I think they are already corrupted to an extent ^^
Mobs in the world are mutated because of the corruption in the world. Perhaps Tulnar are partially mutated by corruption and thus have a better resistance to corruption.

    theorizing is theorizing........
  • Are they immune (To a certain point) because they caused it!? Opened Pandora's Box and released it?

    I like your thinking

  • Would be really cool if they could use corruption in some sense... Or maybe have forms that they could activate if they channeled corruption... Such as increased size and strength (spikes etc the usual) and they would do damage to themself as they used these 'empowered' abilities!

Would love to see them have specific reactions similar to this though!

    yeah!
  • Or maybe the long forgotten Underrealm god protected them from the corruption!
  • Maybe corruption is like a flood, the tide came in forcing the Underworld races to flee as far as they could and the underrealm was the only place untouched, before receding over time, but so slowly that the overworld was forgotten about.

Or possibly corruption is like a contagious disease and the under realmraces isolated themselves away when the other races fled to safety through the gates.

Maybe corruption appears in a gas firm, it just has a different density than air, so floats low, just skimming the grass, hence, safe beneath it.

    Lots of possibilities :)
  • If Tulnar are already corrupted it means they will be red by default.  :p
