  • For me the difficulty of the game will be based entirely on how OP the RNG boss that prevents me from ever receiving gear is.

I'd prefer the RNG boss to be weak.
  • Dark Souls difficulty, but no tools to diagnose problems with the group composition.  Good luck with that.
  • Whatever the chosen level of difficulty, it will need to have significant scaling capability to cater for the new, casual, main stream and hardcore.

I personally enjoy times where I can do mindless (easy) pve and time to log in an challenge my skill set (hardcore).

There are too many MMORPGs that offer only easy to mainstream and offer little to those that want to push the boundaries of their ability solo or with others.

  • LOL can i downvote this pleb,  I mean WoW has varied in difficulty expansion to expansion and on how grindy it is vs reward varying in each one...

    Which pleb?
  • To early to call. But if they make it challenging it will be worth playing as it keeps your interest. I like games that keep you on your toes and make you think.
The time to go find another game is when all the cry babies tell the devs the game is too hard and the devs dumb it down for the babies.
  • No pandering to the whiners, no hand holding!

I play wow currently and it's a cake walk compared to what it use to be, that doesn't mean I dont enjoy the game. I just wish a majority of the game was more difficult not just mythic raids.

    WHAT IF....
..the world simply is and comes in all stages of difficulty. Where the only thing you rely on is your personal skill and joining with others to overcome obstacles you cant manage alone or in a small group ?

Problem then would become Zerging content. So monsters should have a zerg meter on how many people are attacking them. If the players are trying to roflstomp content...then the monster should summon its own allies to make the contest fair again.

Lets go farm the shit out of that zombie village for all the loot......moment later....run.....run away!
  • Difficult as in spamming skill rotations and getting physical conditions ?
Difficult as in being environmentally aware and dying to ping as a consequence ?
Difficult as in perfecting group synchronisation and kicking anyone below perfection ?
Difficult as in enemies being OP compared to players barring anyone but the best players from content ?

    Best players?
    Nah, just players with brains.
I'd love for it to be at the difficulty that no one who hasn't read up & prepared themselves in advance can even hope to ever even reach the first boss in a dungeon / raid.

Filthy casuals & snot nosed brats don't belong to MMO's.
They can go back to Overwatch or League.
  • Which WoW does this poll speak of?
The current ''WoW! Now for blind people too!'' version.
or the Vanilla WoW, where It was actually hard to level, dungeons were challenging.
    Raids were epic.
And the 40man raids were hell.

I wouldn't mind them making it Vanilla WoW difficulty as to the Raids & Dungeons.
    Heck, even harder than that.
Early ESO had some cool Dungeons which required tactics right in the level 10-20 dungeons. I remember going in there thinking  It'd be easy, then I was met with some tactics. And I loved it. Challenging straight from the first few levels into the game.
Sadly they've now removed alot of the tactics.

Ah! Back to the scripted dungeon problem with the cookie cutter FoTM builds. Doesnt take brains to APE someone else. Apes can do that.
  • Since you asked what difficulty will be comparable i had to go with GW2...
But if you'd asked what difficulty i wish for i'd say Wildstar in it early days.
  • I would preferably have difficulty in the AI's ability to act/react in different situations... difficulty in advanced AI
  • @kieran96 current state of wow for difficulty, you know faceroll
  • every casual ever :P

I liked how difficult Wildstar's dungeons and red mobs were during beta. Sadly, they nerfed them into the ground when they went free to play
I agree, wildstar really tuned things down, it was sad to see happen, that game had great potential, still believe it does
I'm sorry to hear that.  I thought their balancing was pretty good, but I stopped playing before they went F2P.
  • Please be challenging... please be challenging.. please be challenging.

I want groups to die. I want wipes and a learning curve. Please.. please be challenging. Nothing would make me happier than actually having to pay attention to the game, study and learn from mistakes.
  • I'd say other. I'd like it where you have to plan out your fights. Every mob you engage should be dangerous (If it is at your level or close to it.) Like if you pull more than 1 or 2 mobs at a time then you better run if you are alone.

Pay attention to the game, study and learn from mistakes. But your this guy.

  • It just boggles the mind sometimes. You people calling for wipe mechanics on bosses realize that there is exp debt for pve deaths also. Corruption mechanics greatly increase how quickly you stat/skill reduction will kick in, but it still applies to any death. And before we get a bunch of you screaming "Nuh uh, youse don't no nuffin!" do some research. I'll give you the first link. Very clearly says this at 44:20.

I'd like it kept to 1 mob at a time, any more than that and its a threat to your life, but at the same time if you utilize your skills well enough than 2 mobs would be doable
  • I really liked Wildstar during beta, dungeons were pretty hard and you had to pay attention to the telemarketers otherwise you die, also the medal system in their dungeons was pretty cool too. When I play mmorpgs I mainly delve into dungeons/raids. I liked the WoW system when it was a little bit older, when I had to round up a group of people and then spend quite a bit of time in the dungeon to progress but now you just have to go braindead in dungeons and just do keep doing it untill you get the one piece of loot you wanted. I want to be invested in a dungeon before I clear it, I would like long dungeons (with save points or something) rather than short, quick dungeons that I have to do over and over again to get the loot that I want. In Albion Online beta, the dungeons were pretty fun when you were with a group of friends and it took quite a bit of time (around 1-2 hours tbh) before you reached the end but the loot was there and the exp was well worth it.

As long as its not as easy as WoW, I suspect i'll be happy!
I'm looking forward to the video of you clearing mythic tos. So far only 11 guilds completed it.

Mindless hating on a game you haven't played is a Nono. Just makes you a sheep.
