This announcement was one of the highlights from the PAX Panel for me. I've played a necromancer or similar classes since D&D. What are your thoughts and speculations for this class combo in Ashes?

    Will the summons be controllable or will they be summon on target and then leave them to sick em? I've played games where you can micro manage what gets summoned and it can be a lot of fun. I know there will be summoners, but what will be the main difference between these two classes?
    Questions questions...

    Either way, really cool to see them adding necromancers!

    Definitely interesting but just how are they going to pull it off? Which combo class is going to be it? A Summoner/Cleric, Summoner/Mage?

    Seeing how the second class augments the primary class, I'd imagine it might be Summoner/Cleric.. Then there would be Summoner/Mage for Elemental Summoning, perhaps...

    Well, Necromancers are mages - it's in the name.
    Should be Mage/Summoner or Summoner/Mage.

    Per Jeff Bard, Summoners will be manually controlling what their "pets" do.

    Necromancer, I will raise my Legion, Undead Dragon, BoB
    It could be Summoner/Mage/Cleric
    Ah fun time but don't worry people I will not be going towards world domination right away because I want us all to see the beauty of the game and play it.

    Because Lich died one.
    Don't mix Necromancer and Lich we are after all rival's

    Necromancer will definitely be summoner as main character and maybe that cleric as secondary like some mentioned.. but i guess it will be summoner+rogue. Rogue brings that shadow and dark aspect to summons so it would be reasonable solution. 

    But anyway, i am very interested to see how summoner generally plays out and what kind of combo class this necromancer will be. One option for me..

    Would a Summoner/Bard just essentially be a 1980's hair band music video?

    Just a dude magically using a guitar he conjures out of nothing to smite an army of zombies in business suits while a leather bikini-clad babe clings to his arm continually throwing her hair back?

    Nercomancer = Summoner - Mage  or visaversa probbaly.
    Or Cleric/Summoner

    I'd like to think of a Necromancer as its own class, rather than as a summoner of some sort.  Perhaps an expansion class?  A Necromancer wouldn't necessarily have to "summon" to do damage, just use death magic for attack, buff/debuff, etc. 

    That summoner / cleric would most likely be the counter to a necromancer with healing and life magic type minions.  The summoner / mage would be more worthwhile as an elementalist with elemental type minions? 

    I think I'd prefer it as a separate class with its own build, spells, mystique, storyline, and so on than just as a "Summoner/2nd class" build.

    I'm very excited about Necromancer, as it's one of my favorite archtypes. I'll definatley be playing one.

    I was really excited about the announcement. It was actually my favorite part of this whole PAX thing. I always try the necromancer/warlock/dark caster type of character first. hope they don't screw it up lol

    Necromancer is my ultimate class fantasy, I just haven't really seen an MMO or game in general that does it in a satisfactory way. I am sooooooooo glad that Necromancer will be a class in the game.
