Head-start for the headless...

  • Again, I am not seeing how this logic does not apply to anyone that waits 2 days after launch to start playing. Or those that might be unfortunate enough to not be able to play the first day or two do to server issues. Especially if they purchased a package specifically for the 2 day head start and both days were plagued with patches. Not to mention they can't even level their node of choosing.

    How is this different?

Do I think that joining an MMO late, maybe a year or more, puts me at a disadvantage to those that have been playing a year? Yes. Do I ask the studio to open a new server because of that, no.

Also, don't play on the head start servers if you feel as though the disadvantage would be that big. If your friends and guild mates are, and they are not willing to share some of that benefit, why are you choosing a server because they are on it?
  • Head start will be grand! Rally the troops and begin our adventures!
  • I'd rather join a non-head-start server but would not be upset if I had to join a head-start server. If it means being able to play with some nicer people I'd join the head-start server.
  • I'm perfectly OK with having a short head start that doesn't impact the world. If nothing else it'll give the head-starters a chance to explore the world and map the terrain/nodes out before the swarm. Perfect for guild leaders, geographer, etc.
  • (Because there is no "other" option)

Because I'm poor I needed to spend money on other things higher on my priority list, I didn't buy a headstart package, but if I still can by the time I have some money, I will. One thing I'm not sure about is whether the non-headstart server would even be big enough to last for a long time. I would expect that one to die quickly because many people will have guilds that started at headstart so they would have to play there at launch as well. Or you have a friend who had a headstart.
