hahaha ok bye now
Ok imma get to the point look at the anime Overlord and look at the races they have, just add those one by one with your own twist and everyone will be happy haha.
Just as a hypothetical, a race that possesses the proportions and features of a human skeleton but with horns and a bone tail (kind of combining the idea of demon and undead from earlier in the thread). They could emerge from beneath the Under Realm; as a civilization's last ditch efforts to avoid the calamity resulted in their new form.
Also this has sparked a question in my mind about updates to the game too. What about when they add a primary new class to the game. That's literally going to be a game changer.
Does it have that kind of scalability built in ?
I feel like a lot of traditional MMO classes would potentially fit pretty well in AoC's 8x8 archetype structure as existing Primary/Secondary combinations. For example, a Cleric/Ranger could be called a "Druid" (instead of "Protector", a very bland and generic word) and given Druid-like visuals/cosmetics. Similarly, a Tank/Fighter could be called a Barbarian (instead of a Knight-- having both a Paladin and a Knight seems redundant), and a Fighter/Tank could be called a Berserker (instead of a "Dreadnought", which is a kind of ship). We could have the classes we have traditionally enjoyed playing without changing the underlying structure of the game very much.
Monk is a little trickier to fit in to this framework, but since Monks are typically realized as melee-focused characters with limited self-healing, I would suggest having the Fighter/Cleric be a Monk (currently, the Fighter/Cleric is called a "Highsword", which in lore/RP terms sounds very, very similar to the Knight, Paladin, and Templar, all of which are already in the game as other class combos; why not make the Fighter/Cleric a Monk, something slightly different?).
To an extent this is already being done with the Paladin (Tank/Cleric), Shaman (Cleric/Summoner), and Enchanter (Summoner/Bard). I only suggest taking a good idea and extending it a little further.
And a MindFlayer style playable race.
