Hello Guys. As you can see from my title I'm new here and I would like to get involved in to the community. To start things of I want to say that I've never been so genuinely enthusiastic for a game before and I really believe (as a MMO fan) that this game will be something special. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Well to get active immediately what I wanted to ask is "how will the gear progress in the game- in the meaning of how will you level up your gear". Your fellow AoC enthusiastic.

Gear progression isn't all to much explored yet but we do know some key point about it.
First.: It will be a crafting focus, so you might want to kill lot's of amazingly dangerous stuff, but they won't drop gear, they'll drop components like hides metals and such you need to craft gear.
Second.: It won't be a tiered system. So you won't progress in metal works from bronze to iron to silver to gold and so on, never using the previous metal again. Instead it will all be interchangeable and different materials will have different statcombinations/ focuses/ etc.
That does leave the question how we do actually progress, but I am pretty sure it wasn't explained yet, crafting in general has very limited information for now.
The best guess I can make is that it will have to do with your progress/ the persons progress that builds your gear in his job as weaponsmith/armor maker ... .
