Purple and Legendary and God Items

As many as you all know the Colors in Games for items, white, green, blue, purple, yellow, and red.
It would be really cool if items at the status of Purple, would be really hard to Obtain, so people who wants the Max Gear really work hard to obtain it.
Armor Sets, weapon sets, to get a setbuff, character glowing effect (for example like in dragonball "aura")
Maybe they can implent here a "gear plussing system" so higher you plus your gear = so nicer the glowing effect
What i want to try to say is, i saw so many games who gave legendary items so easy to the players, in my opinion this is not the way a mmo should be like :D
Everyone knows MMORPG's took a lot of gaming time, and i know the first time when i was freshly in a mmorpg and saw a legendary item on a guy i said "woah nice" and after all the years of boring mmo's when somebody had a legendary item i said "hm ok" because you ran the dungeon 1-10x and got it.
Its boring, i mean even the word "Legendary" or the Red ones who are above Legendary should be really hard to get, and when you finally get it, you can be really proud
everyone else here who think the same?

  • They have stated that crafting is going to be a heavy focus and required to acquire the best gear in game, and we will see variations depending on crafting traits, profession level, and so on. Not to mention they have said that there will one of a kind items in the game that may take years to even uncover, which really encourages explorations and content mining.

From everything I have read, different quality items will be a thing, as will rarity and lifespan and specialist artisan skills.
This is shown in many different aspects of the game discussed so far.
You will have the option to specialise and be proud of who/what you become.
You will be exceptionally unique, if not superior in all aspects.
Making progress eternal would be the icing on the cake.

    :)
  • A +1-20 enhancement system is the last thing i ever want to see in this game aside from loot crates. Shits cancer. Every play bdo? Or vindictus(wasnt as bad as bdo)?? Horrid game mechanic that makes people quit.

They stress alot how they want things to have meaning so im sure item rarity will be a thing.
  • All yellow errrthang

  • I'd like to reiterate for the 1000th time that @UnknownSystemError is the human AoC encyclopedia and an absolute animal. Dropping facts and mics.
  • While it hasn't been stated at all by Intrepid, I half expect the item 'color' to be tied to it's enchanting level - a system that I see functioning similarly to Archeages regrading  in some respects - though without any of the harsh RNG or P2W aspects that it had in that game.

If this is the case, I see AoC having 10+ item 'colors', rather than the WoW-clone standard of 6, and the top end items being rare enough that many players won't even see one (let alone own one) for years.
  • What I see is Intrepid making a system that even the best boss drop items in the game can be deconstructed and so allowing the deconstructor access to create even more worthwhile items. Though still being the same rarity it will be completely different from the original items abilities or stats. Imagine a dragon fire mace for instance, with this insane boss drop mace you have a chance to deal an incredible amount of pure fire damage to your opponent when attacking. Awesome drop right? Well now imagine a master weaponsmith getting his hands on this and deconstructing it, and then learning to add this ability to another weapon he crafts using the component he got from deconstructing the mace. How insane would it be to have a player be able to make the exact item they have always wanted as a reward from leveling his skillset tremendously.
  • I think that player crafted items are supposed to be of the highest level in game so this already makes the difficulty of obtaining best gear go up :3

Combination of that and some boss drops, but still no cake walk at all. I thoroughly appreciate their heavy focus on crafting.
  • wow amazing answers, didnt know that they will put a combination system to get even a better item, im littarally amazed right now, cant wait to test this game :)

Glad we could help, I look forward to testing along side you!
  • I like to see that. If crafting is requiered ppl will way more engage in the games systems.
  • I want all the glowing weapons <3
  • o:) sadly i couldnt be in pax east
  • Glowing rarity is always a favorite for mmo players
  • It comes from a generation watching too many cartoons with leprechauns and glowing pots of gold. "They're magically delicious!"
  • I am really interested in the possibility of "unique" items, I hope they are not just weapons or armor and instea take on the aspect of a "wonderous item" that has an interesting effect (hopefully not game-breaking). I am usually a crafter so I'm really curious to see how they implement this system. I'm hoping they get away from the craft X item half-a-million times to increase skill though...

I also hope there is an element of surprise somewhere, not just a recipe-based system... lemme gather all these rare items and then "attempt" to make a sword or a helm of some sort. Like I have the usual items to make a helm, shape it this way, add in the usual schtick and oh hey I got these dragon scales the other day from that raid-level dragon my guild took down in that really neat quest... let's see what happens!

Reminds me of old school WoW where epics were few and far between and seeing someone decked out in a full set was jaw-dropping. Then you have the supremely rare legendaries where you only saw a few on a server. Those were the good days of earning things. Now you get a legendary once a week and blues and greens combined are rarer than purples. Legitimately sick of it.

Oh and I really don't plussing stuff. It adds RNG to somewhere it doesn't belong. If they add plussing it should be from being a very skilled crafter and have no RNG aspect.
  • it would be amazing if they give you a opportunity in crafting to combine randomly items, to create a completly new item that nobody haves, so all 64 classes could have completly different weapons with completly different stats and effects

Like a type of combi weapon, like a spear that can fire crossbow bolts to thin the first line of troops then you use the spear in melee.

  • I really hope there's no colored text to determine weapon qualities.

If I see a crazy awesome weapon that I've never seen before... THAT makes it rare or unique.
If it's glowing blue while it's being wielded - I assume it has a magical enhancement on it.  Possibly ice related.

I might be okay if there were colors to differentiate when comparing weapons to what's equipped...

the appearance aesthetic cannot determine the 'enchantment' tell due to the fact items will be cosmetically skinned. So your Chill weapon might emit fire. The ability to judge/gauge an opponent based on appearance is no longer relevant. That is the forgotten cost of cosmetic customization.

The quality/rarity of items should be in direct proportion to the investment taken to obtain them. Ideally through non random means.

There has been no weapon "skins" yet, so I'm not sure how you came up with that so far.  For armor, I agree.

Stretch goal 4 was weapon skins and effects.

I doubt it will be the last time.
