If this were say, Beta 1 and this was a concern, then I'd be worried. Tightening up the PvP movement and camera speed is really pretty simple when compared to what they are focusing on now. And remember, we have 2yrs minimum before this game drops.
I've been a member of this community just about a year and a half. The progress I've seen in that time has been amazing. I can't wait to see what another 2yrs will bring us.
Now this isn't to say I dont have my concerns, but right now I'm not going to be stressed about them a that much because frankly, I feel Intrepid has earned my faith by being so open and interactive with us.
Opinions may vary, but this is mine.
There is nothing wrong with pointing out criticisms but I would argue against what you view as the "core" system. Movement is core for sure, but there are other systems that they have been working on that are just as important. In an MMO, almost everything has to come together and work properly, so I have no qualms about what they have been working on so far.
I would leave you with this, when they get to the point in development that they say they have completed the "majority" of the system and you still don't like it, that's when the worry/complaint becomes real. To my knowledge this system hasn't been a focus as of yet, so hang in there.
Also a valid point is the fact that MMORPGs is very extensive genre content wise (or at least the intention should be to make every extensive and open content), and Intrepid wants to extend it even more with node system, therefore there are also a lot of other mechanics that are equally important as fighting system, what is something opposite to pure competitive games like Overwatch where you have one goal and all mechanics are based around that goal.
I personally am not concerned how well made mechanics are in current stage of development simply because Intrepid is developing the game in very fast pace (what is surprising in my opinion), and a lot of things you mentioned (e.g. clunky and bugged controls) will probably get fixed and improved in near future, although it is good that the points you made are addressed as early as possible as it (probably) quickens up development process.
What I am personally more concerned about is the approach of the developers and designers towards the game, because this is something that we will see the results of very late in the development. What was the main bane of a lot of non Asian MMOs was trying to be a "WOW killer". MMORPGs is completely different genre design and content wise than any other game type. In most of other genres approach of "lets improve mechanics that are in other game of that genre" would work well, but in MMOs it gives opposite results. People don't play, for example WOW simply because they dislike the core mechanics that the game is relying on, and players that play WOW already will carry on playing it even if there is a game that does things better than game like WOW, simply because of the and knowledge they have gained over the past months or years and most importantly time the have put into this. Actually one of the main reasons I am interested in AOC is because developers seem to understand that, but the concern will stay there (probably) until we will see beta version of the game, or later.
But others have said it is not there main priority right now. To be honest I did not know this ether until I read it.
I am just like you a pvper and a former Archeage pvper aswell. If I went through the experience you had I would probably be posting a thread with the samething.
Bless online will be coming out within a month now, so we have that option. That's my go to until Ashes comes out. Who knows maybe will like it? At any rate it's still awhile away so do not get to stressed bro. Our need to kill needs to be fulfilled and Robocraft is not doing it! Lol. Anyways let's see what they have to offer combat wise in about a year. We should have a good idea by then
