Oh, thats good to hear! BDO  non-payed armors looked like pure garbage, literally there was a potato sack.
I will be happy to help IS by buying a few cosmetics but i dont want BDO prices. Armor sets were more expensive than a real t-shirt xD.

I hope they ll show us some armor sets before release.

Since Ashes is a Subscription based game, they don't need to lure people into the cash shop, but use the cash shop as a supplementary system to help fund stuff like cosmetics and other cool stuff in the game.

The cosmetics in the cash shop are quite expensive, but you have to realize the time and effort it takes to model them, and then import them into the engine, and Intrepid in the end do want to make some money selling them to fund other parts of the game.

  • I think with the prices, you are paying for the exclusivity of the item when the game comes out. Since they are only offered for a month or so, there's a limited window to get them.

Basically, people are going to look at $25 for a skin and say, "I ain't paying that!" and then there's a small percentage of people who are like, "Ooh hmm.. sure!"

When the game comes out, there will be only a handful of actual players with them, depending on how big the game is.
  • Im probably not buying many of the cosmetics since I already am upgrading to the Braver of worlds package, however they can charge what they want for the exclusive cosmetics for now, they look great and I am sure its a lot of extra work to deliver a new awesome looking set each month.

These cosmetics are limited edition. I'm sure non-limited edition cosmetics will be cheaper. If you want to be one of only a few people on the server with these cosmetics, go for them. If the limited edition side doesn't really appeal to you, no sense in paying the extra for the "limited edition" status to get them.
  • No complaints from me, business as usual.
  • I view it at the moment as supporting the project but i do agree once i start paying a subscription and pay for some costumes in Aussie Dollar it could very well force me to lets say choose wisely lol.

Don't forget about monster coins, if you beat the player who bought it you get cosmetics.  Risk Vs Reward via cash shop is kinda cool too.

  • While they will be available in the cash shop, that is not the only way to gain monster coins, they will be looted from drops/chests also.

I love the cosmetics in the store but sometimes I feel as though the prices are a little too high. of course I know I don't have to buy anything, but I would love to help promote the game in its early stages.

I hope that in the future a skin or pet would be under 20$. if armor skins and pets are going be the same prices as they are now I don't imagine me buying stuff from the store which sucks to say cause I love cosmetics.

I think if some of the skins were more on the lines of 10.00 to 15.00 it would be easier, but this is just me and my opinions.

Yeah they are pricey and I hope its just that way to help make money for development. I have a feeling that's what it is.

To me I still feel strongly it should be a Sub only game and not have any microtransactions at even just cosmetics.

Let's hope that the prices come down after the game releases and the current prices are just a preorder investment to help support game development.

Steve seems genuine so I curb some of my distrust and doubt, I am giving AOC a chance and will see what unfolds. When it comes to micro transactions and if he holds true to his promises that it wont impact the game negatively and there will be items of equal appeal in game that could be huge positive impact, having a cash shop but not going over board with it. Even if I'm not crazy about it, it could still have a positive impact and set some examples for how other companies do business.

But yeah I still do not like cash shops, not in games I pay straight out pay for, or that I would pay subs for. That's just me being honest :)

  • In the end it more money for IS to use to make the game so if something looks great I'm going to buy it.
  • It will be worth it in the end, you gotta have faith!

When it comes to Cash Shop faith and trust has to be earned.

In a game with subscriptions i still feel strongly cash shops shouldn't be involved at most I may tolerate it if it doesn't go overboard yes even for just appearances.
  • The current price points are also set so high due to the pre-order packs they are associated to, much like the summer add ons for us KS backers. I have no issue with the current prices, nor do I believe them to be unreasonable. I support this project wholeheartedly and Intrepid has earned my trust via their transparency.

Actually, I think the backer add-ons are also way too high. Just going to leave 2 examples here:

pets are 15 in the preorder packs, they are 25 in the backer addons

gliding mount (the hippogryph) is 20 in the preorder packs while the gliding mount addon is 50

granted, there is some exclusivity due to the packs' tier that they belong to. And I hope it's just that, because if this is any indication of how much cosmetics will be once the game launches I will not be touching that stuff.

note that the 20 for the hippogryph mount is still way too high IMO.
  • Well they are one of a kind items so the price would reflect that
  • ^ They are exclusive and associated to packages that already have high price points.
  • After playing Warhammer for over 20 years you understand what "disposable income" means ^^
  • Sorry, but Nexon will be taking over the cosmetics shop.  The sad face emote will now cost $10 and will last for 30 days before it needs to be purchased again.   :D
