Ashes of Creation + WTFast for EU Players

Hello Guys,

ive read so much negativity about my.com for the EU players, the only way now we can play is to make a charakter on NA servers, or register to my.com.
After all the Posts about my.com im not sure to put my Data and sign up at this website.
And its Obvious that if we are live in the EU and play on a NA server that we will have a higher ping.
But what if we Play from EU but connect via WTFast to NA Servers, the Ping must be fine?
so there would be theoretically no need to register to my.com

If you give me some Feedback it would be really nice, and did you Guys already Register on my.com?
- did you use the same email on my.com & ashesofcreation.com ?
- what else do i have to know when i register on my.com?

Best Regards
Sylarr

and by the way, WTFast is no cheat or something

  • This is going to be such a subjective thread in that only you can truly answer your questions. WTFast is an option that's been banded about but personally, I'll be playing on EU. I may be playing on my own so it may take a while to node develop but I'll be sitting on the throne for sure!

Streamline your game packets for lower ping. Game has to be supported for to work I.e. by developer
  • but what if i progress really good, and for example after 6 months or 1 year my account got hacked cause my.com has no good secure? so my whole work will be ruined
  •  Without looking and might be a bad assumption. Since it has to be supported by the game I would think there would be end 2 end encryption

@Kratz I tell you what You grab a spot Ill grab a spot and in about 2 years time we call all out siege each other.  Then we start again in different locations lol.

@Sylarr All joking aside.  I have played many games on NA servers and done fine.  If you are an elite PVPer  you may notice ping issues but the east coast servers are not that bad in my experience.  (I'm not Elite PVPer lol)  I have put my faith in @GMSteven delivering his promises to best of his ability and I am forced to do the same when it comes to My.com and steven's commitment to making sure we have the playing, security and aftersales service experience they will have on an NA server.  Not because of ping as I personally don't see much difference most of the time but more due to the playing times server events etc.  Playing an mmo when the vast majority of the population is sleeping or at work is just not fun. (I understand My.com has a bad track record here but they do not normally deal with a person who is soooo passionate about the player experience as Steven).  Fingers crossed.

This isn't an issue. EU GDPR law is super strict now, like really, really strict. They are legally obligated to protect your data far better than normal. The fines can be big too if there is a data leak, so your data is probably better with my.com now than with many US businesses, that have no such obligation.

I'll cross my fingers for this, cuz I really want to play on the EU servers.
Other than getting hacked, My.com has gotten other complaints than that though, but I'm slightly hopeful
  • It seems no matter how much Steven tires to re-assure the community it won't work with some people...

OMFG the nearles busted a fuse I laughed so hard. Deffinitely the best thing that came out of this whole My.Com thing.
  • Everybody keeps throwing around "my data" "oh, my data" like it's some value.

You'll use your made-up alias and an e-mail address for signup. If your real name is "required", just use a fake name.

What sensitive data are we talking about? Apply yourself.

I'd recommend watching TheLazyPeons explanation on Developer/Publisher contracts.

The outcry about "My.com will ruin the game" is funny because your fear about your game being ruined, but you would rather ruin your experience entirely and play on NA servers just because you do not like the publisher, which will not have any creative control over the game.

Yup. It's a smart thing to never use personal - information , email or facebook for games or new web based businesses.

I always have emails specifically for games sometimes I even make a seperate email for certain games individually with no link to personal accounts.

    Definitely the same for facebook.

Using personal emails for games is never a good idea or questionable websites with links to personal accounts or information. One can always use pre-paid credit cards these days as well.

It's best to protect yourself by not using personal information or accounts for games in the first place. Especially on games that has the potential of selling game currency on line ( pretty much any MMO out there ) as people continually hack accounts to steal assets to sell on Gold sites.

    ****

In regards to publishers I don't know My.Com but I can tell you if they went with a company like EA, Ubisoft or Daybreak in the US it would be a deal breaker for me, the vision to not be like those companies is what primarily drew me to the game in the first place. To team up with one of those publishers would be like removing the No 1 reason the game interested me in the first place.
  • well my.com is the russian EA,ubisoft .
and for some of us our "DATA" has a lot of value .
    lifetime subs for instance .
or guildleaders who get hackt ( disband guild + loot the treasury )
to think of just a few .
  • This can and does happen with any publisher, not just my.com.

In most of the cases, it is the fault of the person that got his account hacked.

If you are "important" and have to maintain account security at a maximum, we are in 2018 where 2-factor authentication exists.

Well that is all nice and good, but how do you suggest ppl pay the sub, or buy cosmetics? They leave a bag of money somewhere under a bench and some guy from my.com gets it?
You have to give some kind of data if you want to pay them. Is there a solution for this as well without giving out your bank account information?
  • This is why the GDPR law is in place.

During payment, you can usually choose "Save my payment info for next time". If you do not click that, the publisher is not allowed to keep records of your credit card data.

For their accounting, they will need information such as credit card type, the last 4 digits of the number and the expiry date, but the CCV code and the full credit card information is not logged.

What they see is something like: XXXX XXXX XXXX 1234 12/22, which can be located on the bill/report/document or what they have to show their revenue, or they might delete this information altogether after successfull purchase.

That is the very most a hacker can possibly get, if this information is even stored in an online database.

That is just if you choose to pay by credit card. Why not use paypal? Oh right, is paypal worthy of your data?

The options to secure your data are there, but the end user will have to take matters into his own hands if he wants to stay secure, not point fingers at anything and everything saying "This is not secure! My Data!". If it is not secure, don't do it. There are always alternate methods.
  • Without me pulling out the network engineer hat which I wear.

Even if you use these tunneling service it's about what is physically possible theoretically traveling the distance from your connection to the WTF / Lowerping ETC services then to the game server and back again.

I would not put all your faith in these types of service there for sure! it would lower you from 400+MS to 260MS (or so) you won't see anything like sub 150ms.

It's unfortunate for sure, especially seeing MY involved in holding data...which is a big... big no no.
