Racial Stats, With or Against?

  • As long as it is viable to make what you want I'm happy with the perks. The Orc tank can take more hits but the elf tank dodges more and things like that
  • I’m fine with there being a difference as long as there is a choice, eg if you choose ork tank he will be slow but tough and do the most damage, if you choose elf tank he will be the fastest tank but have less health and do less dmg but can avoid more dmg than the ork can. Something like this but not limited to where you can say “oh for this fight we need an ork and an elf tank”.
  • I voted against.
The "identity" for a Race, to me, comes through their visual and Lore. Having Stat boosts based on Race just pigeonholes players instead of allowing for more diversity.

A race's "lore" is exactly why they will have particular stats better or weaker than others.

The more customization the better.  Further, as much of an altoholic as I am, I enjoy creating new characters with the purpose of trying races with certain classes and/or professions that aren't the "meta" because I enjoy the extra challenge and tweaks.  In ESO I even made a Nord DPS, as someone mentioned previously, just because I wanted to have fun with it.

If you want to have certain characters that do the min/max thing then go for it.  Doesn't mean you can't also have characters you want to play that have particular stats and abilities because you want to have fun with it.

I'm glad they aren't only concerned about min/max in this game.  Ashes of Creation isn't just about and for power players.

And if one race has better eye sight or viewing distance ?
one race has better hearing for evading danger and awaiting prey ?
one race has better smell for tracking ?
one race has better tastebuds for identifying poisons ?
all races have inferior stats in those they dont specialise in ?

You are spot on. I mean the tulnar are a underground race so of course they would see better in the dark
  • I like the varied customization options, so i'm fine with varied stats, so long as they balance against one another.
  • I like flavorful choices and the racial bonuses, whatever they may be will probably not be class making or class breaking.

SInce AoC will not be into the E-Sport scene the 0.05% dps or healing difference having a certain race as a certain class as PERFECTLY played will probably not come into play.

As much as it pains me to say. You need a little chaos to make life interesting

Chaos is good :> honestly there is never enough variation in games :3

With racial stats, I think most players are going to choose the race which works better with their class or combat, and there will be discrimination against those who choose otherwise.

Racial stats is a bad idea. What do you think?
Love ur screen name. .hack//sign was the best
  • Personally speaking, in addition, I would not only like to see racial stats but also have it further influenced by physical appearance. Skin down that orc? Sure, lose a little bit of strength, gain some dexterity back. Buff up the orc to oblivion?
