Battle Royal mode, gone forever or just until Easter?

The battle royale as it currently exists doesn't really make sense in an MMO even as a battleground.  The characters class should matter in all aspects of the game.

I agree that character classes should matter.  Someone mentioned that it could be used to declare the mayor of a military node.  Maybe, if they used it for that but changed it so people played as their actual classes etc.  More like a FFA where all citizens of that node could jump in and fight to the death and see who comes out on top.

 

I voted leave it in, but I don't really care either way.  If it pulls people away from the actual game so be it, those people would probably just move onto a different BR game anyways.  I do agree though, that they should not invest much if any time into it if they did keep it around in some form.

Plenty of other shitty BR's out there. People here signed up for an MMO and only interested in that!! Focus on what you promised the people! 

No need for it as we will have the MMO version anyway in battlegrounds/warzones and the like.

I agree with you 100% I paid for a MMO, not a BR. I do see the need of one right now but when the game comes out I hope to never see it again

If too many players log in to AoC just to access an instanced piece of content, then we end up with one of the worst situations an MMO can have: players not engaging with the open game world resulting in it becoming more empty. I'd rather play alongside other players, not have login slots taken up by ppl just logging in to an instanced PvP arena.

AoC's design aims to have players engaging with much of the game world. A battle royale seems to go against this vision.

I agree with the fact that BR should not be a game mode. But for me it is ok if it is part of a special event of a particular quest line story, because it couldn't be repeatable and so it would acquire meaning. In this way it would be an event in keeping with mmorpg world history, meaningful and epic to see.

Yep I agree and understand that in the testing phase its an asset to help out with combat and the such. But once all that is sorted we will have battlegrounds and other activities to scratch the PvP itch.

As i see it now BR are hot right now but a good portion of gamers out there have started to MEME Hate on these kind of modes and soon enough it will be totally rejected so yeah lets get real.

my biggest fear for this game is for it to become another BR game
please kill the idea, burn it and bury its ashes in the history of alpha 1 testing
i strongly believe it will ruin the community which the game heavily relies on

Battle Royale isn't something I particularly enjoy. However I don't see why not? I think having more features like this is just a net positive to the game.

You know that it’s not a BR game right?  The BR portion is for testing and the plan as presented to us is for it to go away permanently after that phase of testing is concluded.  If you read the creator of this poll, the reason for asking our opinion is to see if people are interested in keeping it instead.

There is no reason to fear that this game will itself turn into a BR.

Any association with the BR game space is already having a negative impact and confusing potential new consumers who are only just discovering ashes of creation as an MMO. When i go to any Youtube content that shows Ashes BR alpha testing even with disclosure  the comment sections just implodes with "BR crap /RIP fail dead game"

the BR mode need to vanish ASAP within testing, I also hope the NDA lifts after this fact as the negative press isn't worth it.

I understand people might enjoy BR, but i am sorry it's Sh!t get over it.

You have open world PvP, caravan raids, arena's, castle sieges and horde mode by monsters....you don't need a BR. the Entire game is a BR haha.

i strongly support this company and this game and truly believe it will be a huge success but alot of gamers, me included, have been let down countless times, alot of ppl i talk to claim this game will be just another early access half a$# game, i'm just hoping they are wrong, my last hope for the mmorpg genre lies with this game and for that reason i have plenty to fear

From what I've seen/heard and/or experienced most have not been that positive about the BR mode since it got revealed. I'd say the playerbase would be split if they included it.

No I say focus on what they have built this community around, a MMORPG. That's what they sold us, that's what they've promised us. Now if they later down the line (when the MMORPG is released) decides to recruit so they can release a BR spin-off that's fine. They have said they want to make Ashes of Creation a franchise so it could happen, but they should deliver their main game first.

As stated before, adding an unnecessary br mode will only serve to divide the community. I can absolutley see it being adapted for certain events in the game, like military elections, arenas, and the such, but to be its own segment is just asking too much of both the devs and the players IMHO.

I vote for 'Easter', but I meant a seasonal yearly event. The lore could be behind that event: "Remember for the past what the corruption can make with the people." Technically this will be a 'vision of the past', but you actually live through it.

I would really like this to be apart of ashes of creations PvP system. Especially if their were BR ranks that people could achieve. I mean they already have a base version of the BR right now. They could just put a bit of work into polishing up for launch. Then, it would be good to go. Also, not a lot of mmos have a BR mode so it would help AoC stand out.

It's not going to be a BR game. It was clearly stated in the emails we received as testers why they were using this specific model for this test. I cant stand pvp cause I suck wickedly bad at it but I've had a blast running around looking at the scenery until I'm blasted, then I watch one of my other teammates until its done. It's beautiful. I dont understand the buttons much even tho it's easy enough to get but I've only logged in a couple of times. I'm excited about whats to come, still.
