Carpe Diem

Greetings everyone! While I'm just getting acquainted with Ashes of Creation, I wish I had happened upon this community/development sooner as the game looks amazing and looks to really finally offer an MMORPG that will not only break the modern day molds, but bring new life and a fresh face to many that have been waiting for an experience just like this!  I suppose finding it now does have it's advantages albeit it's disadvantages too, but at least I don't have to wait in anticipation as long as some of you veterans here!

Looking forward to getting to know the community here!

  • Since a number of others have given a brief history and I failed at doing so, figured I'd remedy that...

So I'm a Veteran of sorts when it comes to MMO's though I've been around and playing them online probably before some of you were even born, not that this is a bad thing. (Though my wife may disagree /grins)  Anyhow, I've been playing games for a long time.  From the table top RPG's/strategies games such as D&D, Shadow Run, Mech Warrior, Magic etc...along with a plethora of Nintendo, SNES, N64, Playstation, PS2, PS3, XBox360 etc...just to name a few until the computer age of online gaming, yes I had a Commodore 64, which is really dating myself now.  With the invention of the internet I've since played a number of online games including in no particular order: Everquest, EQ2, DAoC, Warhammer Online, WoW, Aion, Tera, SWTOR, FFXIV v1.0 and ARR, GW2, Black Desert, Rift, Wildstar, ESO, LoTR, Defiance, DCUO, Eve, and Neverwinter. (Yea I tried to name them all and think I did)

In any case I've been gaming for a while now, was a raid leader in one of the top ranked guilds on Emarr server in EQ back in the day. "Affliction" in the off chance some original EQ'rs who played on Emarr see this.  A high EG raiding guild in WoW for many years and many more.  I'd say the vast majority of my time spent would be split between EQ1, WoW, and FFXIV.  Though I really loved SWTOR and Warhammer Age of Reckoning as both offered so much and had so much potential, but one went FTP and the other has died, though many of you reading this already know that :).  Thus I'd like to consider myself a decently experience MMORPG'r.
I originally started playing a DPS class and was that for all of my EQ1/2 days (though I dabbled in healing) and all of the vanilla WoW days, but since the first expansion of WoW to present I've found myself always navigating to the healing classes, while alting in DPS classes.

All that said, you now hopefully have a better idea of whom I am and where I come from at least from a gaming perspective/background.  What I see in Ashes is taking some of the amazing parts from many of the mmo's I've played and making them work on an epic level and I can't wait!

    Till next time...
